There's also the option of getting 2 cupholders from a Discovery 3, that fits straight in and adapt to many sizes of bottles etc. There's even a set from a Range Rover same year, that have a nice aluminium insert at the bottom for looks. Will get scratched, though. Cheers.

Grahame, perfect. There is one other important issue to be aware of that I ran into that others may too. Each time I put the torsion spring arm on the aft side of that little pin and then pushed the cup holder slide in, I heard the spring snap back, and at that point onward the cup holder was stuck and could not be pushed all the way back in place. I found out that the torsion spring arm tended to ride a bit too high and almost came right up and off that little pin every time I tried to put the cup holder slide back into place. The problem is that the torsion spring arm positions itself ever so slightly too high up so that it may ride up and over the catch on the aft side of the cup holder itself, instead of nesting itself in that notch that you can see on the back side of the cup holder. The easy solution is, once the torsion spring arm is in place, behind the wee pin you showed so clearly, then slide the cup holder part way in but not yet to the point it contacts the torsion spring arm. At that point take a small flat blade screwdriver or any kind of flat blade and hold the torsion spring arm down parallel to the floor of the second tray so that it does not ride up and out of place---when you hold it down level, it will find the notch just fine. There is no need to remove the second tray, which can be quite difficult. But it takes a long nose pliers or very small hands to place the torsion spring back over its pivot stub if it happens to fly off. Thanks loads for such an important, useful video---yours was a lifesaver---with in my case, one small addition. Hope it's useful for anyone who may run into the pesky torsion spring problem I happened upon. I should have left my son's lucky teddy bear assistant in place as you'd done, in which case I'd probably then not have had to take this extra step.

Just got a Freelander 2 and the nsf door wasn’t unlocking so I looked into it and obviously thought that it needed a new door lock actuator and was wondering whether I should attempt it or take it to a garage but after watching this video I thought it was worth a go at spraying the interior lock with silicone spray and to my surprise it works the lock unlocked and locks every time so a big thank you for this video.

Going there next year.

Many thanks. Spent half an hour, with a couple of credit cards, trying to wrestle the clock out by itself. Wasn't aware the central-locking switch came out with it and, thus, one of the tabs is behind the CL switch. :-/ Also, FWIW, the best thing for inserting the bulb is a 6mm (IIRC) socket. Saves risking mangling up the bulb holder with a screwdriver or pliers.

What type of cards did you insert above and below the clock... were they just every day plastic credit cards?

I was planning on changing the actuator on my freelander2 because my driver's side door central locking has an intermittent fault. Im going to cross my fingers and try this first!! If it works then you have saved me alot of time, stress and money.. will let you know how I get on. 👍

Bloody hell another reply !!! I've got the exact same problem on the same door on my Freelander 2, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. I've been looking at KZbin vids on how to change the actuator when I came across this, I will give it a go tomorrow and thank you in anticipation.
