I have two Grenadiers and a Quartermaster on order. Since, my son, my Brother in law and even my mother in law who all live in Montana 10 hours from a dealer have bought Grenadiers. My Brother in law has confirmed that the Local Toyota Dealer will service the vehicle. Warranty will likely be a different matter. I sold two 200 series Land Cruiser’s after days of ownership of our first Grenadier. A 2013 and a 2021 that I swore I would never sell after modifications including suspension, Bull Bar and Winch, Long Range Fuel tank, sliders, skids, dual battery….. After having the Grenadier, that I did not preorder because I just had to see it and feel it first, I just assume throw rocks at the Land Cruisers. The Grenadier is better in every respect on and off-road.

WOW! A globe trotting vegan woman motorcyclist, SHE’S HOT! To me all woman riders are. I own a 07 BMW R1200 G/S with 64,000 trouble free miles. I do all my own maintenance, just need some tire tools. Does Ms. Price need a partner for a leg of travel? Would love to do a leg of travel…… Plus she plays Banjo! I have traveled to many places with a 07 Toyota FJ Cruiser. In 2010, about 10 of us were on a two day Mojave rd. Run. We were stopped at one point and setting up camp. Scott was with a few people that just bought Land Romers. We had a FJ team member with us. Moreen (we all just call her Mo.)scott recognized her and hung out with us for about an hour before moving on. He is SUCH a great guy with a wealth of knowlage and Wisdom about off roading! If you ever get a chance to meet him on the trail, try to spend time with him you’ll be glad you did!

Thanks for this. I have an 2003 HDJ100, 5 speed manual with factory sub tank, rear locker, no RHC ,etc. here In Kenya they call it a “local spec”. I’ve been blown away by what it can do all while getting about 21mpg. Fun to learn about all the options and history. Great platform.

Hundys are such nice touring vehicles and the manual fte one I used to drive was the cream of the crop. I don't rate 105s though. They are wallowing horrible things.
@CACressida17 күн бұрын
HZJ105s with 5mts were undesirable in the middle east. Mostly used by government agencies. I've seen quite a bit of FZJ105s anf HZJ105s in Yemen. My friend imports a lot of clean 40s and 60s into the US from Yemen, so maybe i should take advantage and get me a clean LHD 105.

I am in the market for a 2006/07 Land Cruiser/LX470....unfortunately. I say that because the reason is my 1997 80 Series Collector's Edition 3X locked was stolen and never retrieved. So getting back into one is way more than the insurance settled for. I think the 100 is a good compromise with still having competent off-road capabilities but not as good as my 80 was but with more power and smoother ride getting to those rugged trails. I actually was just at the museum in September with my 80. Very cool.

It's great that you guys make reviews like this. Really helps in making decisions plus a wealth of information. The only problem is that I spend hours here on KZbin. Amazon head three Plano 1630 cases on super special in their warehouse deals for less than half price. I couldn't resist it was the deal of a lifetime.

I am soooo jealous. My dad bought a used 1978 Commander when I was a little boy. I was actually searching for one of them that might be for sale and I found out about Miss Muller and her travels. So cool, she just got another IG follower. :)

It's an arm and a leg to convert them to 4X4. If you pay someone to convert one for you, then you must have money, and if you're mechanically inclined, then it's a little cheaper to do it yourself. The kit without the front axle and without the transmission and without the transfercase and without cutting down the gas tank is about 7k. Front axle around 3 to 5k transmission rebuild 3 to 5k and transfercase 2 to 4k and then the cutting down the gas tank is more money. You gotta have money to get one of these darlings done. To have it done, you're looking at 20 to 30k, depending on what you want. I would love to have my van done. I went out and bought a van first before seeing how much it cost to have this done and I found out real quick that I'm poor and that I would never ever ever be able to do this to my van😔. Those of you who can afford this, go for it because it really looks awesome! If I ever hit the lottery🥳, I'm going to U joint Offroad to have my van done. Those guys are the pros on converting these vans. Go see them and them only. They do quality work there. I mean, what they do to these vans is magic! 🤓

I really like my 200 series, but the 500k or 25 years on simple maintenence talking point is simply not accurate. 1) Flawed radiator design causes hairline crack and failure in all pre-revision trucks (2018 and earlier by 150k miles) 2) Inferior water pump seals causing replacement (every 100-150k miles) 3) Valley heat exchanger sealant failure causing lost coolant (every 100-150k miles) 4) Front wheel bearing wear and failure (every 100-200k) 5) Front and rear control arm bushings and inner/outer tie rod wear (every 100-200k) These are not insignificant repairs from a cost or labor standpoint. These repairs are all too common on street driven trucks and well documented on ih8mud. The brakes, oil, and fuel for half a million miles may have been true for the 100 series (plus TB jobs) but it is not true for the 200 series.
@ExpeditionPortal27 күн бұрын
I am sorry that your experience has been less than ideal with the 200. On average, these vehicles do have a 500,000 mile service life, which does not preclude any repairs, but does tend to limit major issues.

The off-road suspension height isn't meant to give more feedback it's just more stiff because it took more air pressure to raise it higher so now it's more bumpy😂😂😂 I don't think this video aged very well because now the lr3 is lasting much longer in the LR4 is throwing timing chains and coolant pipes😂😂😂

Hi, I've just discovered Overlanding and your podcast in the last few months.... Ha ha, I thought that I invented overlanding since I rigged my 2004 Honda CRV to live a minimalist lifestyle for a few weeks while working on base at Ft. Irwin. All my friends thought I was nuts and couldn't understand it. I didn't know anyone who had tried anything similar. So, I arrived with my innovative setup only to discover that I had re-invented the wheel. I am so excited to learn more and have been listening to your podcast regularly. Now I'm ready to buy a new overland vehicle... that is a bit longer than my CRV and would love some input from a Barstow resident like you!

The CRV is awesome and surprisingly well-suited for travel. Enjoy and keep us up to date. -Scott Brady
