Morning from Kentucky. Just a note. I survived Hodgkins Cancer with a 50/50 chance of living. After 40 radiation treatments, operations and painful test. I beat it but since then I have had 14 cases of Skin Cancer and just since Oct. 2023 I've had 4 major surgeries on my neck. Two of those surgeries Jan. & Dec. of this year. A total of 121 stitches. So, with that said seeing your in such intense sun. Try and cover up and take precautions to protect yourself so you won't have to through what I have. Love your videos and enjoy but be safe. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year . : )

No you can’t use that 1708 after it gets totally wet.It gets stiff and rigid after it dries and it’s very hard to saturate.
@sailingjoco8 күн бұрын
Exactly this ! We thought maybe to use it for non structural little projects in the future if they come up but not sure that would even be the best idea. Then we’re hauling around fiberglass sheets in the boat . Clutter clutter clutter !

Now we know why boats are so expensive. the amount of labor that is put into a boat is astounding , thousands of hours! The cost of fiberglass and resin is crazy as well !! Good job guys
@sailingjoco8 күн бұрын
Yes !!! It really is a labour of love isn’t it? It’s not for the weak lol. We’re trying to show allllll the prep and work and time that has gone into this - so many KZbin channels just show like 2 episodes and BAM it’s done !! It’s really not that simple lol

Hey Doug! We haven’t actually used it yet lol! So far we have just rigged up a full preventer line run from the boom to the bow cleat and back to a winch on opposite side and that has been our go to. We used it on our first ever 3 day sail , feel free to go back and watch that episode ! (North Carolina to South Carolina)

It might be dutch power. It is 50hz. Canadian and US power is 60hz. It might mean that the inverter/charger can't process the input voltage properly anyway. If you suspect a failure often close examination of the circuit boards with you multimeter can show the failure. Often burn marks can be observed on faulty components. Testing for resistance can then determine if circuits exist through potentially failed components.. You don't have more advanced diagnostic tools so much more than the basics may be out of reach for you. Keep in mind an inverter can have pretty powerful capacitors that can pack an unwanted electrical punch so letting them drain for quite a while prior to testing might be a good thing.
@sailingjoco22 күн бұрын
Hey Allyn thanks for the information, I’m sure it will be helpful for people down the road too! We didn’t have any issues with the hertz / we are on the French side of the island so their power doesn’t go out as often/surge lol. And yup we’ve looked at the board - replaced it ! No signs of burns or anything. Jeff also has used a capacitor to check for voltage before handling any of that , dang we didn’t film that part. So hard to get everything all the time ! Thanks for watching as usual :)
There’s always something isn’t there? 🤦♀️ Hopefully we can find a solution to it at some point but it’ll have to wait till the decks done ! Happy holidays to you too!

Re the windlass/backing plate install…why worry about the bolts so much? Couldn’t you just back out the bolts after everything sets up avoiding the issue worrying about disturbing the backing plate? Looks like it all worked out the way you did it, so just a curiosity question from me. Many ways to ‘skin a cat!’
@sailingjoco18 күн бұрын
When we put the plate down, there was ‘splooge’ of epoxy that got in the bolt holes , so even tho we used Vaseline on the bolts before putting the windlass down, they’d still get epoxy on them inevitably. So we didn’t want keep it down for too long just in case ! Dont wanna seal the windlass to the deck 👌 Thanks for watching hope you enjoyed!

Install a surge protector to the shore power input!

My Multiplus also failed after four plus years. And this is when I learned that Vectron’s five year warranty has a few exceptions. The big one is the warranty is six years from the date of manufacture not five years from the date of purchase! I bitch and moaned about this and they offer to sell me a new one at half price with a full five year warranty. I was disappointed but at least they did something. The new one has been working fine for a few years now.
