I stumbled upon this group via Spotify last year and their first album is fantastic. I first heard Lead Me On and was very impressed with the rest of the album. Did they ever chart on the US back then? If they didn’t, they sure could’ve had a few hits under their belt.

I think they'll all be dead by 2034. Not what I want (4 of them are family) but probably sadly not likely. But I think people will keep listening. And that's a form of immortality. Even if it becomes a vaguely forgotten song some academics studying Dutch pop music in the late 1900s 200 years from now. They'll pop up.

48 years ago today (5th of September) it was number 1 in the Dutch chart. It's amazing to me that something my dad, aunt, uncles and Ruud and Mickey made in 1975 is something that moves people to this day. Whether they learned to waltz to it. Played it at a wedding for their first dance. Played it at funerals. Or just in the car singing along. I come here and read the comments of people liking this song. And it makes me happy. And yes, a bit proud. Music is quite something, the way we integrate it into our lives. And allow the artist a seat at the table for life's most precious moments. It's a wonderful thing.

I love you so much I can't let you go And sometimes I believe you love me But somewhere between your heart and mine There's a door without any key Somewhere between your heart and mine There's a window that I can't see through There's a wall so high it reaches the sky Somewhere between me and you Somewhere between your heart and mine There's love I can't understand It's there for a while then fades like a smile And I am left in the middle again Somewhere between your heart and mine There's a window that I can't see through There's a wall so high it reaches the sky Somewhere between me and you Somewhere between your heart and mine There's a window that I can't see through There's a wall so high it reaches the sky Somewhere between me and you Somewhere between me and you

Musically great job by this group from The Netherlands. Their record sold well and got much radio play here in the USA. I wonder how well the opening girl singer understands English. This isn't the kind of song that goes well with her big smile.

She understood it perfectly. The crowd didn't. To them it's just a sing about a love that just doesn't quite work. And back then you smiled if you where on camera (unless you where Tom Waits or Dylan). Also is it a sad song? Maybe she's just relieved the wall broke a vicious circle with a abusive partner. Considering the male singers personality. Maybe it was like a Ike and Tina situation? Maybe the wall is protective. Also the text just isn't that great. Is that wall there? If so why isn't it there for a while? Who decided there should be a wall. Why did they put up a window that you can not see through in it? Why put in a door without a key. If there is no key, is the door even locked? Maybe it's push instead of pull. It remind me of the bible Genisia 1:4"And God said, Let there be light: and there was light." Who is he talking too? There is no mention of him creating conversational partners and then go "watch this, this is my favorite superpower magic trick, WHOOOSE! There you go: a whole world outa nothin'. I've got to spend some time setting this up right last time I did this we some angels rounded up a few loose parts like you used to have with IKEA. Yeah you guessed it, that how I came up with the platypus! It was just after I created scotch and Tom Waits.... Always meant that to be a set" This song was written by Merle Haggard and Bonnie Owens. I don't know if you read any interviews with either but neither was the sharpest knife in the draw. Bonnie more a butterknife. Who just left Buck without telling. Haggard stole a car and failed to break into a house. And was caught in an age before CCTV camera, DNA, consistent street lighting. So he was a felon but not a successful one. He escaped from 17 juvenile facilities. But he couldn't figure out a way not to get put in them. So he wasn't the sharpest either. He got pardoned because he got famous.
