The cipher was a truly nasty attack from Borden. Without the cipher Angier wouldn't have spent so much time and money in Colorado Springs. In the end though it led him to the best version of the transported man. He only got the machine because he stayed in Colorado Springs for so long while he was deciphering the diary. Borden putting the big reveal at the end of the diary backfired on him in a sense.

La prossima vita la merda di cane mogna lisa ha deciso che noi si debba necessariamente uscire con qualcuno che non ci piace, che non fa per noi, con cui non siamo empatici. Ecco perché io me ne vado da sola. Lui si é preso la povera Angelica, la cameriera del pastore. Da notare che lui non ha mai messo piede in nessuna chiesa. Caso ha voluto che lui si sia innamorato per davvero. Li vedo felici insieme. Mando il filmato.

"I don't care about my wife, I care about his secret" I like how Angier realizes how fucked up that was, but he's not ashamed of himself for saying it. He just regrets saying it in front of Olivia. This could have been a moment of redemption where he realizes how obsessed he is. Instead he just doubles down.

Exactly, he’s lost himself and obsession blinded him, it started with grief and it turned into something else entirely Magic was the only thing him and Borden had between them to live with, everything else around them was (as a quote from Gone Girl) background noise
