great video bruv, great technique and way of teaching it. just out of curiosity though, why have you been a 3-4 stripe purple belt for all these years now. with all this training you oughtta be at least 3 stripe brown belt bruv. anyway, love the videos.

Thanks. Most of what we practice is from Gracie University, my experience from Ann Arbor Mixed Martial Arts (now A2 Jiu-Jitsu) and various other instructors through the years. I give credit and thanks to them as well. As for the rank, it is what it is! I just continue training, flowing with the go!

which lesson teaches to avoid being on your back on the ground in the first place, then if you do fall down, how to prevent the dude from securing a full mount position?

There are lesson on how to sprawl but if it was a perfect world and you can always stay balanced you wouldnt be in a fight

@@nonyabizness2550 so every time you end up on your back is because the sprawl failed?
@nonyabizness255018 күн бұрын
@@angrychickin I mean in self defense it could be takedown. Throw. Punched. Slipped. Your body will naturally avoid the ground. But there is no guarantee it wont happen. You can do balance drills. But grapplers who train live like wrestling or judo are going to have the best balance

Good movement but a real boxer is not gonna jump towards the opposite end giving the opponent room to get that close unless it's a clinch but other wise a good uppercut would shatter a dream. Size does matter tho when grabbing I've seen body slams that caused terror 😅

Looks gayer than playing grab-ass with buddies. If you think this is fun give Turkish oil wrestling a go.

It kind of looks like you are trying to start your own gracie ctc after you got your purple belt and then took a couple years off for covid. I'm curious, are you doing the other gracie university master cycle curriculum? I started with combatives and now I do the master cycle--and the techniques are frequently quite mystifying to people at normal bjj schools. In my opinion the master cycle is a necessary part of a jiu jitsu education and it goes far beyond combatives. The combatives stuff is also a necessary part of a jiu jitsu education. People honestly think I'm making the master cycle techniques up when I do them--and honestly I'm just cherry picking the techniques that are most useful to me at the moment and the easiest to understand and fit into my game--I'm not systematically using every master cycle technique. Advanced people tell me the techniques don't work sometimes when they see me try them (I don't do them perfectly since I don't have anyone to practice with and usually I learn them from just watching the videos). It's quite disconcerting to me when people say the stuff doesn't work, to be honest. Advanced people tell me Gracie techniques don't work--I believe it's because they have just never seen these techniques demonstrated. Anyway. I really appreciate all the self-discipline ryron and rener used in preparing the gracie university curriculum. It is so useful to me and so comprehensive. Okay take care.
