You did very well to restore this delightful old girl. I learned to drive in a 1300 and still remember how good they are. Sadly far too many were scrapped because of rust. Yes, they did rot, but I think many were scrapped on reputation, rather than rot. From the registration GTV, it is a Nottinghamshire car originally. Well done for saving a fine old classic. I,d love to drive again but are now blind.

My dad had a 1959 Hillman Minx 4 door saloon in this colour below the waist line with white on top. I have great memories of the car and the view of the dashboard from the rear seat. Ours was column change too. There is a well know hill in Sheffield called East Bank road which my dad used to take at a flat out sweep from the bottom and see how far up we could get in top gear before needing to change down. Sadly ours had to go to the scrap yard. I helped my Dad siphon all the petrol out before running it downhill the the scrap yard. 😢 I hope you are still enjoying the car.

I love the Minx! Very rare here in the US. Excellent choice on the whitewalls. LOL. We Americans love them. I have them on my Morris Minor. Brits always beat me up about it, but that's the way we got them here. I have pictures of my parents' 60 with them new. I've only ever had a Husky (hillman) but I'm always hunting a Minx over here.

Just have so many great memories of minx’s. They always remind me of my late wife, and the fun we both had in our one during the early mid 70s. It had a dodgy starter, but luckily, we lived at the top of a very steep hill. lol 😂. Thank you so much for putting this up. Great memories. 👍💜👍

Nice Minx, i had one of these a few years back, as my 56 Oldsmobile was having a winter rest. It was a great little car, mine was in light pastel green, that too was a 59. I now have 4 Austin Metropolitans, and use one as a daily driver. great video, thank you.

My dad had a 1959 series 3 station wagon, surf green with foam grey roof. Red interior and column shift. Had it from July 59 till November 69 when I was 11 years old. Remember it so well, especially the beautiful whining sound of 1st gear. I see yours has the proper concertina top radiator hose. Normal straight ones pull at the radiator and eventually break it. Ours was right hand drive like yours and I was always surprised the speedo wasn't placed on the drivers side, whatever side that happened to be.

My Dad had a new red one. Mom (mum) insisted on seat belts and he had a single set installed along the entire back seat. I was small enough then to lay across the back watching the street lights zoom by in the Seattle night. Yeah. I'm reminded of the rear window dials and the half folded roof. Take care of her.

I love Martha! She's a real beauty. I was introduced to Hillmans at a very young age. I think my grandfather had one shipped over from England in the early 1960s. He passed it on to my father who drove it until it died. It was a Minx convertible from maybe 1960 or 1961. I was enchanted with the top and how you could roll it half way back. Thank you for sharing. This brings back fond memories.

My dad had the same car (color and everything else) here in the States but it was LHD. I remember that the shift knob was marked EL (extra low), 1, 2, & 3. He bought it used in (I believe) 1961. The salted roads of our New England winters gradually made it 'disappear'. It was a nice little car!

This is a well presented video and it is good to see younger people with enthusiasm for these older vehicles. My late father and grandfather and myself owned 13 Hillmans or Humbers between us ranging from the early mark models, through Audax and Supers to Arrow Hunter. My first car was rusty 61 lllB Minx in 1974. I brought a rustless tidy survivor 61 lllB Humber 80 ( Badge engineered Minx in NZ other than badges only difference was horizontal slats on the sections of the grill where the Hillman had the "mouth organ" pattern). Unfortunately I had to sell it in 2004 because I lost garage space ( I wanted to keep her).

Thankyou so much for a wonderfully presented and well spoken video. I love hillmans and always have. my favourites look like your model, and I remember well my Primary Schools Head Mistress, Miss Burns, driving a yellow one with a off white top. I loved her car. I also learned to drive in a 1949 Hillman Minx and I have a great love for them as well. I owned a Humber Super Snipe 1965 series v model for about 25years. But my love has never dimmed on the name 'Hillman'. I admired how well you spoke and obviously nthe love you have for your dog. I am 65yrs old now, but older cars, especially British, to me are works of Art. It is great to know someone young has such an appreciation for them as well. Best wishes, John (Australia)
