In 10 years people will pay hundreds for these. Just like 60’s Japanese guitars and department store acoustics. You couldn’t give them away in the 80’s but now they go for way too much money. I think these gorilla amps will have some retro mojo in years to come.

Though a great comparison video, it is so unfair of any other wah pedal to be compared to the Crybaby, in my opinion. The other pedals are the road, the trails or the paths that eventually leads a serious guitarist to the Dunlop Crybaby.

Got a V1 with the Legend upgrade chip maybe 10 years ago or more. Was excited at it was in all of the 90's guitar rags as the best-thing. Well, the 80/90's cleans are its strength but the gain tones are some of the worst committed to a DSP. For maintenance, the lower main PCB which is common to many Digitech/DOD units of the era, has a few Tantalum coupling caps. These fail to a short eventually and let out a pile of smoke. Took out other parts, don't let it happen. One torched so badly in mine, it damaged the board right next to the PCM54 DAC and sucked to fix. Replace them with Electrolytics. If the meters max out, there is a big low-pitched noise, and the acrid smoke, it's those Tant caps. Don't let the battery leak either. Change it regularly. I just use a 3xAAA holder and put it in place.

I've noticed a few transitional variants floating around out there that don't adhere to the normal DOD graphics/treadle schemes. Some of the FX75B flangers had a shadow logo and logo treadle but had the upper graphics in line with the 88-96 design. A few color changes too. The envelope filter here is a bright green with black lettering, but there's also a forest green with metallic flakes and white lettering variety out there. Also, I think some of the FX80Bs were red instead of bright orange. Very interesting stuff.

Thank You for demo'ing this stuff! I had a GSP 21 Pro bought in '92 but it got stolen. It was so great for recording. I hated it live though. It sucked in a room with other loud sounds. Too wet & squishy. I found a GSP 21 Legend on Ebay and it'll be here Monday. Can't Wait!
