Did you have any problems with the metal tank and the fish living long term? I see comments when I google that say things about heavy metals leaching into the water and killing the fish. Trying to determine if I want to put a liner in my smaller stock tank or “season” it before adding fish
@tiffanyshackelford71253 жыл бұрын
I have not had any issues. I have fish 12 years old. Only deaths have been from ich, from pet store. I have yet to see people saying it poisons the fish present any toxicology reports from having their fish autopsy. It's just guessing I feel. And I have had a pet chicken die of zinc poison. I have also taken a fish to the vet for cysts and nothing came back about zinc poison. And if it leached that bad to poison fish people wouldn't use them for their more expensive animals to drink from them as they would get zinc poison.

How many gallons is this? I’m looking to create something similar! 😊
@tiffanyshackelford71253 жыл бұрын
This one is a 6ft round at 400 gallons, and a small racer at 110 gallon. The waterfall slot drops it to about 100 gallons. Which is filled with lava rock and gutter foam for the filter. And it's pumped by a intek small pool pump. So total water volume is 500 gallons. I have the same setup only bigger on the other side of the bridge with a 8ft round and a large 300 gallon racer. Which totals 1100 gallons. And is ran with a larger intek pool pump.

Good setup if ur thinking about doing it. But steer away from using metal ones water will get trapped under it causing it to rot quicker rubber ones will last longer and also easier to patch.
@tiffanyshackelford71253 жыл бұрын
@@colemikel8976 I have drainage under mine and it has been running just fine for 2 years now. The Rubbermaid are very limited on size. But it is also possible to drop a pond liner into one of these.

How to make water clear like this
@tiffanyshackelford71253 жыл бұрын
the tank is cycled 2 an hour. with an external pool pump. and the filter holds 90gallons worth of lava rock that the water has to be pushed through. it is stocked low with 10 very small and young fancy goldfish. and is heavily planted in the filter, in the water, and things in pots sitting just in the water. this video is pretty earlier before the plants really go. despite getting from 6-8 hours of full sun a day. it stays clear due to those factors. my filter media takes up the space of equal to 1/5-1/3 the tank volume, and heavy plants, low stock. heavier stock higher filter and plants.

How do you deal with the noodles texture when painting it? Wouldn’t it be really noticeable?
@tiffanyshackelford71255 жыл бұрын
It is, but it didn't bother me. For my project the odd texture helped. Character is liquid metal. The outside of the noodle has a smoother texture than the inside. If you wanted to cover the texture it would harden and loose flexibility but Modge podge.
@jimmysmith98525 жыл бұрын
This said absolutely nothing about longevity/durability, number of full coverage coats, flexibility, fading, etc etc...which is a million times more important and useful than “what product acts a teenie bit better after one coat”. This review is literally useless.
@tiffanyshackelford71255 жыл бұрын
that wasn't important to me. flexibility was not much of a factor since i was painting the completed item. and it doesn't move. at all. and my choice of painting is with prosaide. so we could color match exact with the face paint, and it sticks. it is also flexible. however that is not a product most people want to use. nor need to. and i hand painted mine. i was using this test to show mostly what will melt it and what won't. what absorbed in and what did not. which i figured covered the basics for most people. i'm not one for use this exact thing. because it might work for my application but it won't necessarily work for everyone's application.
@JasonFuller5 жыл бұрын
Can you link to a better review? Also it's not useless, I learned that I don't have to worry about the noodle dissolving and that flexiseal seems to work.

holding the pieces are to the head are straight pins. and then masking tape holds the pieces together for removing to apply the spray adhesive.

Very helpful videos; thank you! I am curious, have you ever made one of these by glueing as you initially apply the pieces, with something like Tacky glue? It looks like you have done this a few times to formulate your process, so I was just wondering if you had tried that and had a negative experience. Thank you!
