I've just completed this kit, it was my first Academy ( aircraft) kit and I think it will definitely be my last. This kit reminded me of the Airfix kits I used to make back in the 70s. God awful fitting , from the cockpit floor to even the pinot tube on the left wing, obscure instructions that aren't very clear, not much detail. At least I know now to stick with the eduard or Tamiya because you just know they will fit together and the instructions will be detailed and easy to follow.

I have to agree on this one : indeed the instructions are too poor and sometimes with indications that make no sense. Without any experience it will no work out (as with other brands). It needs more time and try-outs to get things fit. But it is the only Douglass SBD . At the end it will get a place near the 20 other models I made. Lets hope Tamiya will bring it in the (near) future :-) .

Only the first batch of kits but they mention it anyway. Same trick is done with other kits. Which is misleading and even illegal. We should call them out by social media.

Very nice review, not sure if you've already built it but: A small warning if I may, beware of the suspension arm assembly, there's a piece you add to both interior sides where the arms glue into, a couple of you tube posters mentioned this. Inside the inner piece there are pins inside the sockets for the arms, if they're not straight, the axles will not sit level and will affect the roadwheels. Just ordered this kit a few days ago so thanks for the good info, review! Glad they got rid of that red plastic.

Nice review! Drilled out spare track hangers? That's great! Dragon does that on a couple of they're Panther G kits. I have both the Meng Panther A and D kits and wish the spare track hangers were drilled out. That was my only pet peeve with those two kits! They went together flawlessly. I ended up cutting the brackets off and will replace them with brackets from Shapeways 3D printing that already have the holes added..
