Re Tourism & encouraging interest in the city , If Portsmouth had an interesting illuminated structure or tower as tall as the Spinnaker atop Portsdown Hill , it would be visible from many places especially along the coast & iow whereas the tip lights on Spinnaker is limited to being visible at certain inland locations on land above 200ft near Sway 22miles West & from some park in Worthing upon the South Downs & merely along The Solent coastline as far W as Lymington sea wall & only in ideal weather conditions . Portsmouth like Brighton has the advantage of high ground to illustrate its existence & I feel the sad irony of both having towers at sea level ! Please encourage any Architects at your Uni to consider this possibility of one day improving the the city for your futures because I’ve lived through decades of hope that Bournemouth or Southampton could build something special & it never transpired & those cities haven’t the head start with a gigantic hill ! If Govt & business can find Billions for HS rail , fancy towers in The City of London or Track & Trace schemes then why can’t provincial cities have a tiny slice ?

I mean the Portsmouth Harbour train station although but basic staff helpful & Ferry to France very helpful & taxi. Hoping to get to Portsmouth Uni open day but may just apply for masters & see. It can be bit windy & blustery with sea wind but dynamic place with lots of DDay celebrations as in Normandy. I’m in Reading nothing going on that aware of.

It's all just words. Once you've chopped up reality into words it is not possible to put the pieces back together. Philosophy and science can be successful to some degree in figuring out cause and effect, but the shattering that occurred because of language can never be put back together into a whole. Information and consciousness are deeply human concerns, and very human ways of putting it. Of course atoms and molecules etc. are conscious. How could it be otherwise? How do they know what to do? When to bond and when to repel? It is tragic that science has adopted such a dismissive stance toward the notion that consciousness is pervasive. Though again, it's all just words. An atom does not think about being conscious, it simply is to the extent that it is. This is simply another way to tell the same story.
