great trip watched their renovation series - good to see some people visiting
@cynthiamack4860 Жыл бұрын
Yes we’ve seen the first few episodes. Grant is exactly as he is in the show, it was great to see his dad too in one episode. We were at both camps just before they started the renovations. Tent 7 and 8 are definitely our favorites at Chiawa! We’re hoping to stay in the star bed next visit. Although we love both camps a freshening up is needed every few years and there are plenty of challenges building in the bush. I’m glad they’re getting the exposure from Renovation Wild. COVID really hit the industry hard.

The quiet demeanor of this noble creature illustrates how brave, and courageous the mighty hunters were who slaughtered them. Praise God who gave man dominion over them. How sick.

What's your opinion about this Nile cruise?
@ritemolawbks80122 жыл бұрын
I'm sure it was difficult for you to film this. It might only be part of our culture, but I've noticed people are more disturbed by watching the violent deaths of familiar animals like cats, dogs, horses, cattle, elephants, and their closely related and un-domesticated counterparts in the wild. This is extremely rare, so you made the right decision to captured this on film and sharing the rights to the footage. Before seeing this on 3rd-party channel, your original videos were the only footage on KZbin showing the graphic, and lengthy process, of a lion pride killing an elephant.

Truthfully YES it was extremely difficult to sit and watch for 3 hours - crying one minute and fascinated and perplexed at the animal behavior the next. Even our guide Themba who had been guiding for some 20ish years had never seen the behavior we witnessed. Studying animal behavior sadly though involves watching things such as this.

bull elephants don't usually frighten by lions(even full-grown males or whole prides). He probably thought it was too late, or he doesn't care about what happened.
@cynthiamack48602 жыл бұрын
That is not correct of the elephants in this region. Elephants easily frighten by many things that might surprise you - they do not realize how large they are. A large male elephant lion actually came by as the sub adult lions were trying to kill the young elephant (it was still very much alive and fighting for its life) yet the large bull elephant was afraid to assist this young one. I have seen elephants personally frightened by many things, including humans that stood their ground and threw dung at them.

@@cynthiamack4860 Nah, the bull elephant wrote this down as a loss, and just could not do anything. He wasn't scared lol, he is huge, if the lions were observing the elephant, he could have intervened just in time. His look at 13:05 looks like him being like "I'm sorry... I wish I could have been here sooner". It's the equivalent of coming across a human that's already been disemboweled and long gone beyond saving. You would probably write it off as a total loss.

I’m catching up on your wonderful adventures! Lucky you I would like to go to Hwange & Mana next year. Could you please tell me your favourite camps? I had my eye on Camp Hwange and Davidson’s in Hwange Greatly appreciated and keep the joy flowing!
@cynthiamack48604 жыл бұрын
born free yes we enjoyed Camp Hwange, but we love Davison the wildlife around the camp itself is AMAZING same with Lil Mak. Davison’s is a little larger than Lil Mak too, but both are traditional tented camps not over the top allowing one to truly appreciate their surroundings. Another possibility if you want the traditional experience is Somalia’s Expeditions. You won’t go wrong with any of these camps. For Mana Pools I’d suggest Little Ruckomechi, it’s only 3 tents more private we loved that camp.

That elephant bull is called “ JD” .. he is a very social elephant with humans but is a rather naughty elephant at times as he helps himself to anyone’s supplies without asking 😂😂😂 I have photographed him before..you may ask how would I know this is JD .. just because of his one tusk on the right has a big chip missing from the top pointed area and his body which contorts when he reaches up to feed off the trees . He also now has a hole on the lower left ear closer towards his head . Beautiful animals and always a privilege to be in the company in their world . Just always remember to remain calm and stand sill and please just be quiet and he will enjoy your company after a while . Thanks for sharing this!
