Just stumbled on your video today. Besides all the warnings others have given you, you may want to keep an eye on your block of lead, it may disintegrate in a few years. 30 years ago I had a very expensive N scale steam engine made by the Italian Company Rivarossi. They used recycled battery lead to make the heavy chassis of these models. Being a very expensive engine, I ‘preserved’ it in the original package until I had a decent size track to run it on. It had been in storage for about 10 years. When I took it out and set it on the track and attempted to run it, the chassis disintegrated. I was told that you never get all of the acid out of the lead, and it eventually falls apart. Yours may also meet the same end.

The paste he was knocking out of the plates is lead sulfate. That's a lot of lead containing dust spread around.

Add a bit more bentonite to the sand mixture. This will keep casting from frying and making a rough finish. The casting will be easier to sand and grind also. Also with brass you need a deeper metal feed hole to allow for shrinkage...

I have had many holes in mine but when a person pours a good one , it is all worth. I would add a little more bentonite to the sand mixture. pour in the borax while in the furnace, give another jolt of heat and pour instantly. That brass cools quick and I think thats what happened with the first bell

Sulfuric acid can be recycled dude! Your operation is crude, unsafe and probably not worth all the time you put in for each battery.

Oh Man, I thought I invented the "Slapping" method to removing the paste in the plates! Well, I still like using the "Throw it hard against the ground" method too.

Wow! That needed to be properly recycled by someone with knowledge of safety equipment. And if you refuse to wear a respirator, safety glasses, proper gloves that don’t trap particle of lead in them, then at least put a warning on the front stating that you are doing this with no care for your or anyone else’s safety by blowing lead dust everywhere.

That case is worth around a 1/4 dollar a piece in 2024. ;) My favorite is to turn US silver dimes into silver bells. A friend has the tools to flatten and a bell die to form them. The dies work with sheet brass as well and you can turn those cases into sheets fairly easily but the thicker bells sound nicer.

I appreciate this video because I've broken down exactly one car battery and it was the nastiest thing I've ever worked on. I'll never do it again. Honestly nobody should do it, but every scrapper SHOULD watch a few videos like this to understand why they shouldn't do it. It's a ton of work to recycle a box full of toxic gunk and metal!

Прикольные видосы, но не до конца понятно, что в видео автор делает. Мне как незнакомому с выплавкой человеку интересно было бы механизм узнать, но пояснения нет во всем видео, что используется, применяется, чего нужно добиться и т.д.

Omg i can hear kids in the background. Look mate i'm not a guy who is easily scared, i work with high voltage, chemicals and al kind of dangerous stuff for a living. But please don't go spreading around super fine lead dust where people live, and especially where children live(or even where people don't live).
