Thanks for the detailed video. We had to replace a passenger side mirror (housing and cover) on a ‘22 Prius, and your step by step instructions were perfect. Entire process took just 20min. Also, ordered a plastic tool kit off Amazon for $7, which is what’s needed to do the job properly.

How is the ebay part holding up? I need to fix a junk daily 99 Civic LX. The inside of my tire is being chewed up.
@ef_danielsan3 жыл бұрын
I was never able to install because the bolt holes were too narrow, so I returned. If you noticed on all the models being sold on ebay after I made this video, all the 2020 models have one hole that is ovaled out to account for this install defect, which basically copies Skunk2 and other bigger names like truhart, etc. I did buy a 2020 model off ebay, and while it did adjust camber, the newer poly bushings were too soft, and the alignment did not hold. I replaced it with a Truhart, which I heard uses Hardrace bushings. Another interesting thing is I bought an EG last year, and it used a rear camber kit that looks exactly like the gold one in the above video, but had the oval hole on one side. This particular rear camber kit also had a rubber bushing versus the 2020 poly version I had bought, and I immediately noticed it was wobbly. I took it out, and I could wobble the T part of it with my hands. This one was worse than the 2020 poly bushing version and was immediately replaced.

Thank you! I ended up returning the DNA motoring eBay kit because the bolt holes didn't like up to the holes in the body. I know they addressed this because all the newer rear camber kits on eBay now have ovaled holes, and they're using poly bushings similar to Skunk2. The new one (which I just installed last week) is still very light and much flimsier than the skunk2, but it's remarkably improved to the point where I gave it a second chance , and it's still at a similar price point at $30. Would recommend.

@ef_danielsan6 жыл бұрын
Francis Lago that's why I took the door off. Speakers are easy, but I would buy some universal brackets for them from Amazon or Crutchfield. It's just 3 screws and 2 plugs once the doors are off. No need for any tutorial.

Yours have the JBL Audio system right? I have it and the doors rattle too much with neutral base settings. What you didn't like about it?
@cJeremy7 жыл бұрын
i have the JBL and my passenger side rattles even when the bass setting is 0~2 at maybe around 55% volume level... will you be taking your car to the dealer and ask them to fix it? I don't know if I should try or not.. it's just that I don't have much time. doing this on my own seems too hard for me...
@ef_danielsan6 жыл бұрын
You can try to apply sound deadening material to the door panel and around the metal as well. That will help for sure. Dynamat. You can also buy some bass blockers that are essentially passive equalization that will cut out the lower frequencies , as long as you have some sort of a sub woofer to compensate.

Did the speakers you ordered fit? and if so, how big were they? or what speakers did you use? thanks
@roadddog537 жыл бұрын
I just plugged in the year make and model into the Crutchfield site and it came up with parts that would fit my car. I compared prices to Amazon and it was pretty close, so I just ordered from Crutchfield because they also include adapter rings, wire harnesses, etc. Stuff that I would have to all shop for separately and risk not having them fit when they came. I think it was literally $10 less per set if I parted everything out on Amazon. And after 30 years of receiving Crutchfield catalogs, I figured it was time to order something from them for once. LOL
@roadddog537 жыл бұрын
oh yeah, they're all Coaxial 6.5" speakers. Pretty sure I ordered RockFord Fosgate Prime 3 way in the front, 2 way in the back doors. In the dash, I bought Crutchfield's home brand, Sound Ordnance 3.5". I read somewhere on the Prius forums that Sound Ordnance is similar to Rockford Fosgate Prime speakers (which is RF's budget friendly speaker). Honestly, if you're paying under $100/pair, it's all pretty much the same thing, so it wasn't something I got hung up about.

thanks for the video Daniel. I used to pay a kid to install a usb outlet toward the bottom front left of all my new cars. this keeps my charging wire short and clean to the phone in a holder at the bottom left of my windshield. I plan to do the installation myself this time with the new prius17. Have you got any suggestions on a 12v electrical source near that area? Alex

I just bought the Prime last month and wondering if the door panels can be removed using your method?
@roadddog538 жыл бұрын
Desmond Thang most all toyotas have the same screws on their doors so it should be the same. Ive sat in a Prime at the dealership and it looked pretty much the same on the interior. good luck! it's easy once you do one door. the panel poppers make it a lot easier but probably not necessary.
@cJeremy7 жыл бұрын
do you think I can take my Prius to the dealer and tell them the door rattles too much and ask them to fix it? just got a prius a month ago...
@ef_danielsan6 жыл бұрын
Jeremy C. Of course. The technicians usually just take it apart and apply insulating foam onto the panel. It's like a roll of tape they use.

i took mine out but i have very hard time putting it back. Look like it wont want to go down the rubber gap.
@ef_danielsan8 жыл бұрын
you can pull the window seal off the door and put it back onto the door. in this video, this passenger door had the window seal come off when I pulled the door off. you can slide it off the panel, put it back on the steel frame first. then snap the panel back on.
@ef_danielsan8 жыл бұрын
at 6:07 in the video I lift the panel off and I'm gripping the window seal in my fingers. that slides off like a windshield wiper. sideways. when you slide the whole thing off, snap it back onto the steel door frame first. then the door panel goes on easy. you'll see tabs that snap into the rubber window seal.
@jasonleung84438 жыл бұрын
Took me 5 hours and i finally got it in!!. I think the weather seal is part of the panel. I have to use pretty good amount force to push it down.
