...scary stuff. I served there as a young petty officer fresh from the Falklands war in September 82'. I had been through a dreadful time and had no intention of repeating it whether the Queen offered me a fiver rather than a shilling. When I was drafted in late 84 I had become a Chief Petty Officer and was proud of that, but my eyes were wide open. However, in those apparently happy days there were 15 full platoons on parade every Friday for passing out divisions. That did not include the 1 or 2 passing out classes of 30 men each. Of course, back then, we had a navy... So I look at this and find it sad beyond belief... The navy never got it right all of the time for sure, but the mere sight of that white ensign fluttering in the breeze, meant it was time to run for cover for pirates and thieves. It used to be a symbol not of Empire -but sure it was that too- but of fairness, honesty, steadiness under fire, determination, grit and 300 years of victory...

@kevnwarriner88192 жыл бұрын
The British don't have a problem with people from other Countries living there and this is nearly 30 years old and Hong Kong was still part of Britain and if they hadn't handed the Island back to China then there wouldn't be a Humanitarian problem or an issue with the loss of simple Freedoms that we take for Granted, Free Speech, Free Press, so what's your point? It's not like a lot of people there are obsessed with the Chinese people, it's not like they had Adolf Trump making a Crappie Trade Deal with them that led to the Farmers in the Midwest going Bankrupt and needing a $40 Billion Dollar bailout and they don't have a Sedition Caucus either, and I don't think many of the British MP's caught Covid perhaps the PM Boris Johnson and one other, we have had a few Louie Gohmert, Rant Paul and I'm amazed how few Rethuglicans did catch it but not surprised that most of them are Vaccinated and yet lie about it, Rupert Murdoch even flew into Britain to get the Pfizer Vaccine in December 2020 when it first became available and then when he got back after his second dose he a stricter Vaccine Mandate in place at Fux Entertainment then the Biden Administration will ever do and they lie like Cheap Russian Rugs about the Vaccine and Mandates too, it's Assanine and it's dragging out the effects of the Pandemic and increasing the numbers of people who end up Dying of Covid, General Colin Powell had Blood Cancer and Parkinsons Disease and was 84 Years old and the reason everyone should have got Vaccinated because his Immune system was suppressed just like millions of people who are living with with Suppressed immune systems and are younger than the General was and just as sick, but the attitude is stupid by those on Right when it comes to being Vaccinated

Ahh beautiful... 1 qs though, when retrieving, how the missles got unplugged from the rail launchers?? It looked so smooth, that blk n yellow rod just pulled it down... And whats the magazine capacity on avg frigate or destroyer for these types of missiles?
@Akm723 жыл бұрын
As far as I'm aware no official number has been released on the magazine capacity of the Type 42 or other Sea Dart equipped ships. Unofficially the Type 42 is supposed to have a capacity of 22 missiles, presumably that's 20 in storage racks and 2 on the the hoists as a guess.
@paultanton43073 жыл бұрын
As far as the Type 42's went Batches 1 and 2 could Hold up to 24 Missiles,the Batch 3's 42.
@Akm723 жыл бұрын
@@paultanton4307 If you look into it you'll see that different sources give different numbers for magazine capacity and I don't think any of them are official. EDIT: Some sources say that the stretched batch 3 had a larger magazine and others say that the magazine was the unchanged.
@MrHws5mp2 жыл бұрын
Part of the confusion seems to be about whether the dummy handling rounds (the red ones seen here) are counted or not. There were some pretty detailed diagrams and data on all the old RN weapons printed in an article in Warships 2015. This showed that the Type 42 magazine had three rows of missiles with 7, 6, & 7 missiles in each row (total=20). If there were two more in the handling room below the launcher, that would make 22. Theoretically you could have another two on the launcher, but with them being exposed to the weather, I'm not sure if that was good practice or not. I've seen the same varying accounts about whether the Batch 3s actually had a 40-odd round magazine or just the space for one, but with a 20-rounder actually fitted.
