The organ was so majestic but the big surprise is that the altar versus populum unlike so many altars in Italy is tasteful, historically appropriate and doesn't look like a picnic table from a yard sale. How did that happen, knowing the level of clerical taste when it comes to aggiornamento?

This was a Noah Lewis song, done in Noah's key G, sung by Noah. The main work is his heart breaking harp solo. He pulled the languid plaintiff blues out of this tune the way no one else could, The record company or maybe Ralph Peer got the title wrong. The song is :Going to German," not Germany. Germantown TN was a small backwater stop for steam boats to pick up cotton that Lewis liked to frequent. It was named not after Germany, but a man named I think H T German but with that last name who was the surveyer and real estate "developer" who created it. It is now an upscale suburb if Memphis, but when the Jug stompers cut the tune in 1928 it was a sleepy little hamlet with a couple hundred residents.
