Amazing video! Is it possible to tape the flex cuts to seal the sound as if there we're no flex cuts?
@Brudder2 ай бұрын
@@ZoePabillaran Thanks! Somewhat - but not entirely! In my experience, taping just the flex cuts is basically like a localized/mini version of tape mod.

Should I put these switches in my Keychron K14? Or should I get different switches?
@theodorosanastasioy884610 ай бұрын
Looks exhausting work, good for you. Actually hearing many different configurations may not finally help end users reach to conclusion but instead they get more confused. I'm convinced anyone interested needs to try himself to find out optimal configuration.

The edges of the board flex too much for me, but everything else is pretty good.

QUESTION: I put a 1.5V battery under a sheet of PE foam. My logic was: To take a multi meter measure of a battery wrapped in PE foam. If the multi meter showed something when touching the wrapped battery with the leads - then the foam is conductive. If no measurement - then it is not conductive. Well, took a measure and it showed 1.5V. So my question is: is my method correct and is my PE foam conductive? Thanks!

I'm maybe too late but is the plate that you use is the full alu or the stock leaf alu?
@Brudder Жыл бұрын
It's the stock leaf alu! I would be interested to see if the difference was even starker with a true full plate, but I unfortunately no longer own this board.
@meowwow8340 Жыл бұрын
@@Brudder Based on the vids that I've watched the effect is also the same with the plate. If you're going to watch those youtubers with full plate (no flex cut) or half plate the sound is much more "fuller" and quiet a bit louder than the leaf spring one. It's just so sad to hear that the frogie is not with you anymore :(

How would you rate the Box Black Ink V2's to the Gateron Oil Kings after lubing? I switched from Gateron Silver Pros to Oil Kings and although i like the sound and feel, i wish it had lower travel like the Silvers but with the heavier weight, ala the Box Black Inks.

Really appreciate the nearly apples to apples comparison! I've been going back and forth about my frog tkl with the apollo h PCB and its flexcut. Even with the harder 90A Tadpoles and the non-flex cut alu plate, it still sounded shallow and it lacked the depth that I heard from other Frog TKL Builds. Caved in and bought a Pachi Rev2 PCB with no flex cuts. Hope it actually makes a difference. Cheers!

I recently got a new 96% 1800 format keyboard and it came with a silicone mat thats sandwiched between the plate and pcb So typing is more on the muted side with the stock switches (Gateron G pro yellows). I do have Oil kings on the way and should be here soon. I also saw that Stupidfish also haves case and plate foam for the 1800 keebs too, so I might give it a shot.

It’s weird. This hobby for many started because we don’t like mushy feeling keyboards, but now they are having mush as a feature. I’m all for gaskets mounts for better sound of they board is still solid. I don’t get flex pcb at all
@lsw4852 Жыл бұрын
So far, the only pcb I know to do this right is the wilba weirdflex 60. Done plateless, or with a halfplate, doesn't affect sound too much and still feels nice and bouncy without being too distracting. To be fair, that is a smaller form factor, but I haven't seen any good tkl pcbs that implement flex cuts in a generally positive way.
@seta_souji Жыл бұрын
Yeah...the flex cuts just make the board sound dull. I just got a Frog TKL myself but I ended up paying extra for the full alu plate since the default one has flex cuts. Didn't realize the same thing applies to PCBs as well so I'm glad the Galatea PCB doesn't have any of those memes.

How different is the PC plate from the POM plate?
@Brudder Жыл бұрын
I haven't tried the PC plate on the Sun, but based on my experience with PC vs POM, PC is louder and "sharper", while POM is very muted. I tend to prefer Cherry or muted Gateron switches with PC, and loud switches (long poles, most JWK, etc.) with POM :) Hope that helps!

what was your best sounding setup in your eyes? and dose the gasket hardness have to do with any of the sound changes at all
@Brudder2 жыл бұрын
I personally liked plate foam + tape the best for the Scarlet - with any plate really depending on how soft you want the typing XP! The harder gasket is louder and more "poppy" - I prefer it.

Hi i wanna ask i have fl cmmk mk870 and want to go plateless, but i asked keyboard community in facebook they all said dont use plateless build on hotswap board because it can damage the hotswap socket in the long run. Is it true? Thanks
@Brudder2 жыл бұрын
It largely depends on how tight the switches fit into the PCB - if the switch can still wiggle around plateless then it may cause the socket to loosen over time. Otherwise, it should be relatively harmless. Worst case, you can manually tighten the sockets if they come loose with some tweezers.
@Brudder2 жыл бұрын
Of course, a plate will ensure that the switch stays in place regardless of the plate/PCB combination so it will be the "safest" choice, but I used this Alexa plateless for months without issue, even after doing a number of silly flex tests

how to make the switch on plateless hotswap not wobble?
