@agingintobeauty they all looked great on you! I wasn't interested in a particular one, just wanted to get a sense of the brands and "levels" you prefer. I'm very new to wigs and I have an online bestie wig sister who is very new to wigs. She just sent me this video and I have yet to explore your channel but I know I'm gonna love your vibe. I have been asking friends for validation but I am going to embrace what I like and enjoy some wig magic! :)

@@katietatey I love that you’re going to embrace your style right from the start. That is awesome! I did wig reviews for a small wig company, that I no longer recommend, and they sent me random wigs to review, it was always a surprise to me. So, they don’t actually reflect my personal style or company preferences. I used to love Raquel Welch because the colors were better than any others but the permatease wasn’t my favorite. Belle Tress can out with new hair fibers in 2024 and gorgeous colors - in newly engineered wigs that have no permatease, low density and look and feel amazing! I highly recommend trying something from their City Collection if you want that low density thin hair vibe. If you want big voluminous hair I would recommend Raquel Welch. She brings the drama:)

@agingintobeauty Thank you so much for the recommendation. I'm trying to sample various brands to see what I like best. I actually don't have a Raquel Welch or a Belle Tress yet, but they are both on my radar and I had th same impression you did- RW is big hair and BT looks pretty sleek. I'm sticking to major brands or personal recommendations for now. 😄 I'm currently in the middle of a massive post cleanup at my house (smoke from Eaton fire) but as soon as I can put my feet up, I'm excited to explore your channel. <3

I got my Theo wig. I think it may have been a return, and for good reason!! The permatease came way down into the bangs and one side of the wig was way denser than the other. I’ll never be able to wear it! So I just ordered Star Quality by Raquel Welch and I’m scared to get it because I’ve been burned twice already. I think the reviews were good and I’m hoping for a nice soft fiber low density wig. Wish me luck this time hopefully is a good one!!
@agingintobeauty8 күн бұрын
@@marybrock3221 I do wish you luck! Raquel Welch is a gamble when it comes to permatease also, so fingers are crossed! I do not buy those discount wigs anymore. Always something off about them and no way to return. Ugh. If RW doesn’t work - and you want a shag - get Belle Tress Birmingham. It’s amazingly low density, no permatease and the fibers are out of this world! Please let me know how things go:)

@ well, I haven’t received my RW wig yet, but now I’m concerned. I can’t afford to keep getting bad wigs. AND I did buy Belle Tress Birmingham, and I can barely wear her because the hair is like straw, or doll hair. It’s terrible. It looks good on the shelf but on…there is no movement and the fibers hurt my skin. I loved the style so much but I had a no movement helmet on my head that made me itch. I had to thin the back because it was a nest of hair. I must have gotten the worst dud possible, everyone says it’s amazing. Star Quality had great reviews, if that wig is a dud, I’ll have to hide at home forever!!! It seems to be a big gamble whether a wig will be all it claims to be or not. Star Quality was on sale but not on clearance or bargain sale, please say I can return it if I need to. I assumed it was just clearance and bargain that there was no returns.
@agingintobeauty7 күн бұрын
@@marybrock3221 OMG! I can’t believe you had trouble with Belle Tress’ brand new fibers. I have 3 from the City collection and they’re the most realistic fibers I’ve ever come across. Definitely return a wig with stiff fibers. If you can’t return, wash it with lukewarm to cool water with a drop of laundry detergent. Rinse it thoroughly and use a drop of fabric softener in a bowl of water to condition it and then air dry. Return policies vary from company to company. I highly recommend sticking with companies with integrity that have good return policies because there is a learning curve involved. I hope you find a winner soon. @agingintobeauty11 күн бұрын
@@Eugenia-ip9zb There are 3 wigs in this vid. The grey pixie is quite small. The 2nd is Rowan by Paula Young and would likely accommodate a 23” circumference. The biggest problem is there is so much variance allowed in manufacturing that I may end up with a wig too big and you end up with one too small:/ I do not have any Ellen Wille wigs yet but I have a friend who loves them and she has a large circumference and a lot of bio hair so they must be roomy;) When you find a winner, please come and let me know what worked:) Thanks for being here!

@agingintobeauty11 күн бұрын
@@Eugenia-ip9zb My circumference is less than 20.5”. I think that Toni Brattin’s average size runs large but she makes every style in a large size also. The colors are limited but very well done. Raquel Welch runs large on me. But in many brands you will find a series of glamour type wigs in crazy colors like purple and stuff… Those wig caps are always very large because they’re designed to go over a full thick head of hair as they’re Fashion Accessories and not hair replacements- but, they usually come in regular colors also. I thought I should try a less expensive one this time……Who am I kidding, I can’t afford another expensive wig! Especially if I can’t even wear it. The hair literally HURTS my skin! I watched videos on how to put low lights in wigs that are too light with either root sprays or markers. I know the root spray washes out eventually but I think the markers last longer or are permanent. Wish me luck. I’m always nervous to buy hair. I’ve been wearing toppers for ten years, and recently had to switch to wigs. Although I’m back to my topper because the Birmingham was such a mess.

It would have been more useful if you would have taken your measurements and got a proper fit for your wig cap size.
@agingintobeautyАй бұрын
@@mariesmith1616 That does seem like a rational approach. In the beginning I was often concerned about measurements but considering the extreme variance allowed in the size of each cap, it doesn’t really help to have your measurements unless you are an extreme petite or large cap size. And, even if you wear a different cap size, we still must realize that the cap isn’t designed to be pulled down the neck to cover the hair. It is designed only to fit the skull. That was the big “Aha!” moment for me that inspired this video. I’m so grateful that it has been a help to so many wig sisters. I will be doing a video in the future about measurements that will show me measuring my head:) Thank you for your valuable comment. I hope you have a great hair day!

@ Thank you for your kind response and advice given in your wonderful video. Just note that there are some brands that usually run larger average caps such as Raquel Welch and others smaller average caps such as Ellen Wille. Just to have your measurements will help you and other viewers how a cap will fit in their heads. Of course, there are some of us that have lower hairlines too and your video was helpful on showing that. Thanks again and keep up your wonderful videos.

This is such a great revelation. I thought that it was just me! That I just had an extreme low “gorilla” hairline. Because no one talks about this. So how do people wear those really short wigs? Now, if someone will just tell me why the ear tabs/positions are never in the right place and if I can do something about it😅. btw, I think I DO have a low hairline at the sides (and a lot of bio hair - I wear wigs for costume, not because I have to because of hair loss)
@agingintobeautyАй бұрын
@@39houndsteps LOL yeah, if I could slide my hair all forward I wouldn’t have a receding hairline 😄 Actually, there are several videos showing how to cut off ear tabs without ruining the perimeter of the wig. My tabs sometimes press on my ears and I push them up but I’ve also seen people flip them under! There’s a channel on KZbin called JustKass. Her natural bio hairline is very low and nearly touches her eyebrows on the side. Josie...my lace front Ignite is polking my skin as you talked about. Can I use like...Vasaline to soften the lace. I've tried different positions as you suggested, but is still stiff. Any suggestions? Thanks Julie
@agingintobeauty2 ай бұрын
@@julieannmahoney I’m sorry to hear that. I know how uncomfortable that can be. Without a live conference or several pics, it’s hard to say if there is a problem with the cap or the fit. I can tell you that the lace is a plastic fabric and the only thing that will soften it is heat. Heat will melt the lace and restructure it. If you take a warm hair dryer to it, while wearing it, you might be able to get it to adjust but you’d have to be extremely careful not to melt the hair fibers. And you would have to wear until it’s completely cool and set solid again. I’m not sure if you could get it hot enough without being too hot for your skin. There’s also a possibility you could cut it and stitch the edges to fit but i wouldn’t risk that unless I knew it was a construction issue;) If you want to do a live consultation, I have a 15 minute fix available on my website AgingIntoBeauty.net I hope you find a solution. Thank you very much for this information. I am wearing a average cap by Jon Renau. I love Jon Renau wigs. It does ride up. The rest of my measurements are petite or smaller. I measured the cap after I made the adjustments to fit my head it is 20.5. Not 21.2 inches, as I have measured for circumference. It doesn't ride up. So I guess I will be looking for a petite size. In the meantime I will sew up my 4 average wigs. Am I thinking correctly?
@agingintobeauty2 ай бұрын
@@karenbaldwin2325 Not sure if I understand completely but if the wig is too tight, it will definitely ride up. A wig should not grip too tight. If it’s pulled down too low and onto the neck, it isn’t “riding up” it’s finding the skull. If it’s slipping up the middle of your head, then that is truly riding up. If you’ve pulled the adjusters in all the way and the wig slips around when you shake your head, then it is definitely too big around the circumference. If it fits around the cap but you have a loose pocket like an empty pouch then you are an avg petite. A petite may fit but could be too small too. Unfortunately, it takes some trial and error. I have made my average caps work but I’m going to order some petites and test that out too;) Please let me know what works for you. We’re all trying to figure out the perfect fit:)
