Same aircraft turnaround, and they wanted the westbound to leave later for possibility of cnnx, so sorta has to happen.

Louisiana needed it, because it optimizes the number of Euro-side connections. The New York, L.A., Boston, etc flights that can fill a widebody to London on their own, can sustain the early morning and/or late evening arrivals.

Hey, just wondering if there is any chance that you could find a video of Beth Underhill's 2nd place win with Altair in the Du Maurier International 1999 @ Spruce Meadows. I was a young fan of hers and remember watching Altair give it his all when I was a kid.
@ImmortalSynn5 жыл бұрын
Probably not. I'll look, but I doubt I have any. Most of my '90s videos are 1994-1998, as I then went to college and didn't have my VCR and taping equipment with me thereafter.

I've been looking for footage of Altair as well. Such a brief career but he was brilliant.

Incredible performance, but I wish the commentators would SHUT UP!!! All the yacking spoiled it!! Its like when I was at a Cavalia show and all the self-proclaimed know-it-all horse experts in the audience wouldnt shut the f$%k up as if they were Olympic level judges.
@ImmortalSynn5 жыл бұрын
Despite the awesome screenname, I can tell that you're young.... American announcers HAD to talk through competitions like this in the '80s and '90s, when the horse sports first began to appear on TV in this country, because the overwhelming majority of the audience had NO IDEA what they were watching.

Horse had his ears flat most of the way round. Something not right. Wouldn't surprise me if there was some pain involved in ensuring he hops as high as he does. Didn't like to watch him
@ginnybloomer51325 жыл бұрын
This is one horse...like others I've known....who puts his ears back at an angle to listen and pay concentration to what his rider is telling him. They are not pinned back in anger. Huge difference!

Pinned ears can mean a lot of things besides discomfort. E.g. that the horse is listening to the rider or that wind is blowing into their ears.

Proof that those 11-13,000' runways are unnecessary (for low elevated areas).
@ImmortalSynn5 жыл бұрын
Not necessarily. Plenty of other factors involved: terrain clearance, precipitation/contamination, temperature, humidity, etc etc. This flight is was departing a place that's relatively cool, consistent winds, below sea level, and only flying about 60% of its available range (and thus relatively lightly loaded with fuel), and the runway was dry. Were it departing for a longer flight, at higher temps, with the runways wet/rainy, then it would've required significantly more available runway. And that's a 787. There are aircraft that don't have particularly great runway (distance) performance, e.g. 739ERs, due to their rotational issues and the like.

" CRUISING (ISH) " stood 16.1 hh ( 1.65 m ). Not small. Cruising was Deep. meaning deep bodied (girth), like 1980 (alternative) Olympics Gold medalist ""GLADSTONE"". Hugo Simone, a German, rode for Austria. Hugo & Gladstone were the 1st to win the Volvo World Cup Final (1979). At that Alternative Olympics (which was a full sized Olympic track/course), the Olympic Silver went to a great Irish horse ridden by a great rider: Ryan's Son & John Whitaker. There is no record on the internet of who won the 1980 Olympic Bronze ?!! In Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
