En estos cantos se puede reconocer cantos de la Santa Misa, en latín, la que tiene miles de años atrás.

Éstos salmos gregorianos son de la Iglesia Católica primitiva o dicho de otra forma la Iglesia fundada por Jesucristo, llamada en sus primeros tiempos cristiana, porque la gente le llamo a los que seguían a Cristo, cristianos. Eso se puede leer, en el libro de los Hechos de los Apóstoles, posteriormente, a esos mismos , siglos más tarde , les llamaron católicos. Es la Iglesia Católica, la que le ha puesto música a los salmos, siglos después el Papa San Gregorio ordeno la música , sobre todo en orden a la Sagrada Liturgia, a eso se le llama música gregoriana. Quienes cantan esos salmos son monjes de órdenes contemplativas de la Santa Iglesia Católica. Muchos de las composiciones fueron hechas por monjes.

Been reading Seinkeiwicz "Deluge" trilogy lately, great books. Apparently he was very very Catholic, and so was the Polish-Lithianian Commonwealth. But reading the passion and sincerity, and the importance he assigns to the religion in the stories almost makes me rethink the Catholic church. I have been leaning towards Orthodoxy for a while, but I have been thinking. It's strange as a modern reader to read these old books where they don't think it's at all weird or embarrassing to take religion very seriously, to establish it as true and right, to have actual miracles happen and to see the clergy and the most pious and devout characters painted as heroic and admirable, protected by God and their faith and good works eventually rewarded after winning though adversity with the help of God. No one writes life that any more and it's too bad. I'm not when religious but i like my stories like that.
