Nice video guys. Just getting back into the hobby and have been eyeing this bug. Too bad no one seems to be into racing these enough to do like a Class 11 RC spec series like the real baja bugs. Those things are fantastic. And since they're pretty much all stock except for maybe the tires, the same rules could apply to the RC bugs as well.

Late to the conversation, but just came upon the video. I have this exact same toy car. I have the controller, and its original box. I received this toy for Christmas, most likely 1968 or 1969. I would have been 7 or 8 years old. I love it, and thought it was one of the coolest toys I'd ever received! I don't believe mine 'works' either, but it's been probably 25 years since I've tried it with fresh batteries. I recall that some years after receiving it, it stopped working and my Dad ( a classic could fix anything kinda man) fiddled with it for a while. I want to say that he did get it working again, but don't remember clearly. Super cool you two found and got a kick out of this unique toy, that I got many years of enjoyment out of as a kid. You asked where it would have been purchased......my Mom, in the 60's primarily did all her Christmas shopping for us kids out of the Sears or Montgomery Wards catalogs. So that is a possibility as to where she found mine.

I have also one of these. Sadly mine is missing the tube and the controller, and also the inside is missing some items. But I really really hope, that one day i'll be able to fix it, cause this is awesome! Thanks for the vid, this helps me a lot!

How much do you think these are worth now?
@gone515723 ай бұрын
I have one of these. That was handed down to me from my brother, but just a car. No box, no controller. He wanted back a few years ago and I told him no, it was my now LOL. And my other brother handed me down a 1957 Chevy, black with flames on it. But it has a model airplane engine in it. I've never had either one of them running. But there are very cool cars.

Will it work on the Jimny?
@GCMRacing15 ай бұрын
Technically it does fit on the chassis, yes, but it also interferes with the floor pan tunnel on that body. They made the tunnel very small on the jimny, and this contacts the Tcase.

Very interesting customisation project! I have an original Holiday Buggy and agree with you on the 2010 version (it is awful). The vintage chassis fits the body properly and matches very well the 1:1 buggy it was based on. My project is a simple restoration as I'm returning mine to box art colours so it can retire after 40 years of use. Everything still works including the Acoms electronics and 40 year old Tamiya 6V Ni-Cd battery pack. If you are interested, you can see my progress at channel, BlackSeaRC.
