5:58-6:18. Hands down one of the most epic moments of the Metroid series. No guns blazing, no action, just an X deciding to give its life to save a natural enemy. Not a word of dialogue, yet a lot to say.

Something to think about: (Spoilers ahead. I figure you already know the story and/or don't care if you're watching the final cutscene, but better safe than sorry) ADAM, the AI that is in Samus' ship, has been out of contact with her the entire game. The villain, Raven Beak, was pretending to be ADAM the whole time, pushing her towards challenges to awaken the Metroid DNA inside her so he could harvest it and clone more Metroids. (Fun Fact: He was also the Chozo that donated DNA to Samus so she could survive on Zebes) Despite this, he was able to understand exactly what had happened to Samus, know that her touching the controls would drain the ship's energy, and warn her of this fact just before she could do so. And despite Samus probably being more than a little frazzled, what with the awakening a power she doesn't fully understand after a burst of pure, unadulterated rage directed towards, as far as she knew, the last living Chozo, she stopped the second ADAM told her to. Then, the Chozo she'd *watched* die is suddenly behind her, bows despite being an obvious X, and lets himself be absorbed to counter the wild Metroid and Mawkin Chozo DNA. She only had about a second to process this before she had to jump into the pilot seat, grab the controls, and get the HECK off that planet before it exploded.

I just picture the devs at one moment being stuck and not knowing what to do with the ending of this game. Then, as they are all quietly sipping from their coffees in the meeting room, and after 5 minutes of silence, someone goes: "Badass ending?"" Then the others went "hmm yeah, badass ending".

Samus losing her shit is one of the scariest things that has ever happened in the Metroid universe. She has cleaned A PLANET filled with hostiles when she was calm and collected, think about what she's able to when going full on berserk.

I like the theme here. Both her biggest enemies being the Metroids and x were the ones to save her life.

It's a little difficult to hear through the action and music, but you can hear the freshly-infected Raven Beak repeat what he said to Samus moments ago, "Power... Is everything", as it approaches her.

The last Metroid is Samus Aran. The Galaxy is at peace...

I love that instead of absorbing whatever possible power up she could have gotten from that X from Raven Beak, she just goes "nuh uh. Fuck no." And just blasts it out of existence.

so uh... why did that X sacrifice itself to save samus, when that exact same one also turned back on the EMMIs to try to kill her?

I like how Samus only speaks 2 lines in the game, the first being a couple of sentences calmly said in Chozo, and the 2nd being the screams of UNYIELDING RAGE

Okay, the only time Samus actively destroyed a planet was at the end of the Phazon Crisis and the X Menace on SR388. None of the other times were her fault! And to say “fault” is both an overstatement and disservice to Samus! She undoubtedly saved the universe both times!

Well, I'm not sharp, but I'm thinking after ever since maybe the very first encounter it was proven: That "Metroid Queen" faced off in M-1 and Other-M was just a pest... Samus Aran is *THE one and TRUE* Metroid Queen, and the Dread chapter here has proven that she's near the point where she's had enough of playing around! I'm expecting perhaps in M-Prime 4(?) that Samus is going to start getting really serious by now.

Said it once & ill say it again. They really shouldn't have wrapped up the entire chozo lore with dread & they should've kept raven beak alive. Could've easily been the next reoccurring rival for samus since ridley is dead as hell. Idk what's left in the metroid universe lol
