Every single social media hitting instructor refers to swinging as “releasing the barrel” they have absolutely no clue how to actually explain how to swing

Sorry but the coach is not throwing 75-90 mph and hitting the corners, throwing curve balls and cutters split fingers, changeups. You’re lucky if the coach can hit the strike zone.

I think Coach Clayton represents the direction we as coaches and instructors need to shift to. His approach to the game on a physical and mental level is what the new generation needs to ensure we have a crop of balance and fundamentally sound ballplayers focused on development. It is too easy to get wrapped up in the drippy travel ball culture and this man and those like him are the answer.

The petty origins of this rant make me sick. People who think like this should not have kids. Kids are not a do-over for a never-was or even a has-been.

@@DamBlairFam lol. I guess work ethic isn’t something you want your kids to have. 🤷‍♂️ kids should have to work for and earn things. That’s how real life works. No one is handed anything. This lesson goes far beyond baseball or softball.

is u lean to far back then it makes it tough to create that layback and get more velo, your essentially throwing over the ball. look at degrom, he doesnt lean back, he actually keep his shoulders flat and drifts forward and drops into his hip load...

Agreed, but the "just doing because you're told" is a lesson in itself. It teaches determination and grit in the face of an unavoidable situation. The coach should explain this at the end. Think Mr. Miyagi "Wax on. Wax off"

Slipped your mind to mention Pocket Radar is great for softball players as well. A waist-high mounting height behind the pitcher seems perfect for fastpitch since the softball would be in the beam immediately upon release. Very helpful video! Thank you!

Very nice video - thanks for posting. One question I can’t find an answer to: if a coach is pitching batting practice at say 50mph, and the hitter is hitting the ball with say 70mph exit velocity… which one with the pocket radar pick up? And can you manipulate the device or setup in any way to get it to focus on just one direction (i.e. only pitches coming towards the device)?
@eldahab
@eldahab 4 ай бұрын
So I haven't tried this as I only pitch/practice alone. However, there is a feature that allows you to set the radar to read a specific speed window. So I know I pitch around 73MPH so I set my "read" window to 60-80MPH. A hitter will most probably hit the ball at over 80MPH so it will not give a reading. If I set it to 80-100 mph, it will not give me my pitch speed as I am to slow butvthe exit velo will catch on the device. Hope this helps🫡

Don’t stick to JUST water. Consuming fresh banana slices during hydration periods will be most beneficial for the lowest cost. 1 banana ($0.16) 422mg Potassium, 8%Magnesium,14g sugar,28g carbs,1g salt 1 gatorade ($2-2.5) Sodium 160mg, Potassium 110mg, sugar added 21g. Banana WINS by a landslide not including other vitamins
