great video of the alko brake system, however i cant understand why he taped up the axle shaft when cleaning the back ,i would have just wiped down afterward and when at the start of preparation to dismantle, there was a couple of linkages being very rusty alko axle which where not considered to wire brush and clean and grease, but apart from the music it , was a very good video and of coarse the mechanic , i could see was a proper mechanic i could tell, top marks from me, as as a retired mechanic if you are going to do a job you did it right, no matter how long it takes. ps and we or i never worn gloves.

I just bought a van with this shit. I was hoping to change it to electric brakes in Australia. But with the sealed bearing and the backing plate not bolted it'll be hard and then the rubber suspension has sagged as well. I'm seriously thinking of changing the lot to solid axle and leaf springs?

@@greenwaynegreen1 Yes, I changed the whole axle. I bought a electric brake axle with 1400 kg spring from Mullins in Adelaide for only 850 dollars. I made a rectangle tube chassis and 2 cross bars to bolt the springs to and then bolted that to the alko chassis. I also raised it 2 inches. Then I stopped the draw bar from compressing. Now I have a handbrake that actually works.

I had great difficultynin fitting the new brake shoe spring clips at the back of the rear plate, especially the one between the plate and axle, this was not shown.

Achtung, die untere Feder ist so nicht richtig herum montiert (bei 2:33) vergleicht die originale Einbaulage bei 0:46. Die Einhanghaken an den Federn sind einseitig versetzt und müssen mit der flachen Seite zur Bremsbacke. Sonst sehr gut gemacht. ein Hobbyfahrer :-)

Justera enligt nedan • Släpp på vajer/stag så att expander ej ligger på. • Justera på justerbult/skruv så att det blir stopp och snurra trumman framåt, obs ej bakåt, släpp sedan på justeringen så att trumman snurrar lätt. • Justera vajrar/stag så de är lika mycket justerat. • Montera däcken. • Sätt spännband mellan vagnen och påskjutshandsken, spänn ihop ¼ av påskjuten det ska börja bromsa lite, obs snurra hjulet framåt. Man justerar på stag/vantskruven för att uppnå detta läge. • Dra ihop påskjuten till 2/4, nu skall hjulen vara i låst läge, om inte så släpp på justerbult/skruv på det hjul som bromsar mer.
