You had me at “like a white guy with rage issues.” I’m heading to Albania after my contract as a tour guide in Alaska ends in October. Until then I’m dreaming of Ionian beaches and watching lots of KZbin videos on Albania. Yours is the most entertaining and useful one I’ve seen. I look forward to your upcoming videos, particularly the one about finding apartments. For now, keep it 100.

Almost all of the properties we viewed did not allow us to take photos or videos (citing ‘privacy reasons’). When we return for a second round of viewings this year, we will attempt to film more of what we see.

I believe Italy has introduced a digital nomad visa of some sort
@travelinfoolsblog4 ай бұрын
They did indeed! As well as Turkey. After a little digging, it seems Italy is still fine-tuning the requirements and not necessarily accepting people just yet, but similar to Portugal or Greece, you need a long-term lease agreement for the duration of your stay. Otherwise it seems pretty straightforward.
@Agg1E914 ай бұрын
As the scenario around when I'd be able to consider all these options includes retirement and an age of at least 68, I think I would like to limit my shuffling. Albania and perhaps Montenegro plus Italy is of interest. Though all that is about 10 years away. Who knows what-all will and will not be allowed for US PP holders by then...
@Agg1E914 ай бұрын
Having only watched 47 seconds of the video, seeing the map, and knowing you guys are looking at Puglia, and are "currently" (as of this video) in Albania, it makes some sense now. Albania is about 40mi from the Puglia coast, from Bari you can probably "cheaply" fly or maybe ferry over to Tirana. And I assume you did your homework and found that of that grey group of nations along the Adriatic, Albania is most attractive. I further assume that maybe you're looking at 90d in Puglia, 180d in Albania and then 90d in Puglia, etc. Maybe not exactly that, but something similar. I'll keep watching and find out if I was even remotely on target. If so, that's a very interesting setup, and one I would need to look into myself.

Glad I stumbled across your channel and also nice to see someone from central Texas. Currently living in the Austin area. Planning to scope out Abruzzo in November of this year. Also, totally surprised that someone as reserved and low energy as Ms. Love would have had a career in marketing. 😏 I believe that if you guys can marry useful, organized information, with some self-deprecating levity and humor, you will find well deserved success on YT (or really any related platform). Looking forward to following your journey.
@travelinfoolsblog4 ай бұрын
Glad you found us as well! Please have some Curra’s / Polvo’s for me and I’d love to hear what you think of Abruzzo.
@Agg1E914 ай бұрын
For now, I'm going with the final option. Though planning to do some initial scouting in the Abruzzo region in November. If we like Italy in general (I was last there in '83 as a HS student) and are more interested in living there (and not less so) then I think we'll look into Puglia in '25 or '26 with the hope of renting for 30d. There's just not enough, well, anything, in Molise for us. We're about 4-5 years minimum from buying any house anywhere outside of the US. So, for now, it's more like some sort of weird window shopping excursion, where we've actually travelled to a window making factory, because we're actually interested in buying windows. Or something.

Can you do a video on what you cons and pros you saw between living in Portugal, France, Spain and Italy, please?
@travelinfoolsblog4 ай бұрын
Hi! Since we haven’t spent much time in Portugal, Spain or France, it would be unfair to judge exactly how ‘livable’ any of them are at this stage. But I will keep this in mind! Thank you for the suggestion.
