People that said they were dead from the beginning are smooth brained. Theyre just repeating what theyve heard before from other weird shows

Biggest problem is, there were a few characters that didn't recognize the 1977 crew in 2004. So, that would suggest that their initial entry to 1977 happened in 2004. It was NEW to the timeline.

So what confused me is how jack has a kid with Juliet? How if she never made it out the island? So did they stop themselves from crashing when they went back in time and just had different lives?

So Is the reason why they all had a life after oceanic 815 because when they went back in time they stopped themselves from crashing???? & then eventually kept going on with their lives until they died which eventually ended up in afterlife church??

I knew that they weren’t dead the whole time but I didn’t know how the flash sideways fit on the timeline so now seeing that it literally doesn’t go anywhere on the timeline makes infinitely more sense and the story now fits in my head perfectly. Cheers, and see you in another life brother

I honestly get why people think they were dead the whole time. (I'm aware they were not) But the ending just seems so absurd and out of nowhere. Purgatory? really?

If the Church was the purgatory, where were Miles, Lapidus and Richard (who is implied he became mortal when he saw him grew a grey hair)? I guess we only see people from Oceanic 815 inside, as Ben didn't come in neither.

2 things (go ahead and make fun if needed 😂.) At the end you said “it’s a time loop”, after purgatory they don’t come back into the loop, correct?….Ridiculous but, wanted to know, so I don’t think about that. Also, thank you very much for making a video agreeing on the crazy only timeline of time travel, and The Dharma Initiative. The 2 lines could go either way, it seems with all the criticism, and I really appreciate the validation on the best outcome of the show.

I feel like people who don’t get Lost, just don’t understand time travel. If it was actually possible to travel back into the past, anything you did to try to change things would always have been part of the timeline. Kate and Leopold gets close to doing time travel correctly, but it makes the mistake of having elevators start disappearing in the present. If Leopold was always going to go back to the past and Kate was always going to join him, then him inventing the elevator was still always going to happen. The only show - besides Lost - that has done time travel correctly is the first season of Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency (2016). In that, the people traveling through time cause everything to happen that they were trying to prevent. Like he explains in this video, it’s a time loop. The only way an alternate timeline could exist (in Lost) is if it exists outside time as we know it. That could be in the 4th dimension or on a spiritual plane - whatever actually happens after we die. Lost helped me understand a lot of theoretical science, but also reconcile science and spirituality.

If Jack blew up the hatch how is it he does not have any memory or premonition of it's existence when he crashes on the island. The whole thing was too convoluted to make sense! Loved the show but like the timeline it went sideways. LOL

It always happened in 1977, but Jack didn't know when he first crashed on the Island in 2004, because he didn't experience it until he travelled back in time when he returned to the Island on Ajira 316 in 2007.

I've just finished rewatching and searched for an explanation to see the various theories, but every sensible video sticks to this one and it makes perfect sense. I guess all of the "they were already dead" people never actually finished watching the whole thing.

That makes sense. Especially when Jack asked his dad if they’re all dead. His dad says everyone dies sometime: some before Jack and some long after. So that explains them all reuniting only once they’ve all actually died which could’ve taken hundreds of years in Hurley’s case. Anyway, still lots of questions but less than before I watched this video lol.

I was a big fan of the show back then and got very frustrated with how the series ended, but still liked the series overall and always talked about it with my partner. A couple of years ago she asked for us to watch it, and reluctantly I accepted. Oh Boy, was I wrong. The show is amazing, including the finale. What I realized at last is that all my disappointment back in the day was due to the crazy expectations and theories we all had during the lost experience thing (which was amazing). I was just frustrated back then, but having watched the show again at a more mature age with better understanding made the show whole for me again.

Essentially the island isn't a physical place, it's a "dimension" of sorts. When they try to get back to the island, they have to predict when/where it will be because it's string/quantum probabilities. I think the whole show is this. Two gods locked in an infinite struggle that safeguards this quantum rip (the island), one attempting to leave, the other trying to stop him (chaos vs order). They manipulate probabilities (timelines) to achieve their goals. The Oceanic Six are the destined people who are THE probability that reaches a culmination of stopping the island from ripping the rest of reality (Jack plugs the cork into the island). That's it. The flash-sideways is what results of the chaos dude dying, because there is now a probability where none of that would ever happened because the one chaos dude would never exist to manipulate them into arriving. Everything else is just a company called Dharma that discovered this anomalous "island" and tried to research it. As for the purgatory thing; everyone eventually meets in heaven in general. It was never a purgatory.

I still dont really get it. My biggest question is why? Why did they all meet up again in the church? What was the purpose of the show? It really felt that they left cliffhangers for the sole purpose of you tuning into the next episode. During the second season, when they had Ben in the hatch, I got the feeling that they were in purgatory and the others were fallen angels, and that thier purpose on the island was to weed the good from the bad, and at the same time the black smoke took the bad to hell. Thought I had it all figured out back then. 😂

Yes. It’s the ole’ determinism vs free will. Both are true. Free Will is real, n also not. we have limits, act on decisions 10 seconds before we thought we made them. it’s wise to learn limits. I’d just say the island is purgatory where Time isn’t a thing. Existence is a loop, math is infinite. Surrender to it, n nothing is as serious as we think. The present moment is eternal n that’s all that truly exists. look up “last Thursday”, it’s a debating technique. You lose fighting to prove it ever existed.
