Calgary has an okay train system, sometimes I like to take it just for fun. But for me, the Singapore MRT train system is a lot more efficient (I grew up in Singapore from 1999-2010), trains run both underground and on elevated bridges and don't interfere with road users. There are even platform screen doors at the stations so that people don't jump or fall onto the tracks. Though I can't really blame Calgary, since making something like the MRT in Singapore can be very expensive.

Tremendo. Hacia falta un video que presentase todo el recorrido de esta tierra hermosa, en la que se puede ilustrar a otros la belleza con que cuenta Panama!!

That's great that this service has been successful. Ignorance led me to believe that people from a province with lots of oil would be unlikely to take rapid transit of any kind. Fascinating.

The C-train runs on mostly windpower Edmonton has their lrt as well.

Really neat to see the traffic signal give priority to the trams. I wish the stubborn MBTA would to that here in Boston.

I think the c-train is pathetic and isn't car traffic friendly with all the road crossings. Yet it's a light rail system. Light rail is supposed to be cheap and improperly designed

The reason we haven't built a somewhat similiar skytrain is because: 1. We are doing the West LRT expansion 2. Calgary is a small city compared to Vancover. I'd agree on building a skytrain. I visited and rode one too, but we have a smaller population and Vancover is HUGE. Plus city hall might be considering the tunnel under 7th Ave

As a former Calgarian and a user of Skytrain, when I visit Vancouver I like Skytrain better. Personally, I think Calgary should adopt how Vancouver uses Skytrain, in the fact that it turns into a subway downtown. As I'm sure you've seen, traffic has to stop for the C-Train, which is okay in the suburbs, but it creates traffic downtown, and C-Train has to stop for traffic downtown too, causing further inefficiency.
@SPS14866912 жыл бұрын
Sky train is better now that they have the Canada Line as C-train has at grade crossings and street running while Sky train runs exlusively on bridges and subway.

Yes Yes Yes, whew what a video or should I say what a ride. we have a similiar video posted here featuring the skytrain ride from it's beginnings to the terminus station also another time lapse video featuring the billowing fog slowing creeping and crawling over the downtown area of Vancouver...reminds me of an invasion by the enem,y (ha). Fog dosen't find it's way inland or at the higher elevations of metro Vancouver but it can usually be found by the water and on the nearby beaches.

now we live in a country that for all intents and purposes has 'NO' passenger train service - one train 3 days a week but that is still not great - the part of Canada that has the best scenery and has the most significant history connected with the building of the railroad has NO service - there is NO train anymore between Kamloops BC and Winnipeg Manitoba where in live about a million & a half people - there are 3rd world countries that have better passenger train service than we do ...
@writer12513 жыл бұрын
Excellent, excellent video. You kept the camera focussed on the track ahead and didn't shift it all over the place. Full length screen shot, plus the window out the front of the train was clean, so that helped. Calgary is a great city, from what I saw in your filming. Thanks for the video.

Awesome footage and audio. My family and I took a train trip from Toronto to Vancouver and return in 1966. We went out on the Canadian (CPR) through Banff and returned on the Super Continental (CNR) through Jasper. Many fond memories of this majestic trip, sitting in the Dome car, eating in the dining car, walking from the front of the train to the back of the train several times as I was 11 years old. I remember the lulling sounds of the train from the distance horn to the sound of the tracks.

Did you have trouble convincing the train personnel to allow you to put on a camera and film this? i really want to do something like this for a project I'm doing and I'm worried that they wont allow it. I'd even be content filming it from the "cockpit," if you will, but I'm wondering how lenient they are. I'm in NY.
