Ngl, that was sort of an intense angle for landing, but we all have different methods, I’m not complaining

Yeah, both of those two approaches were way to steep. That is how NOT to do it.

Crashed? How?

I lost control when I released the auto pilot. The plane flipped over and crashed. Luckily, this is a simulator and not real life flight.

Hey, another nice demo! Hope yer still out there flying buddy!

I bet I know what you did for a living now! Something involving video/graphic design! 😂

Nice intro, I thought you said you weren't technically competent! 😂 I can run big servers, but I can't do video editing like this...

Congrats, would love to be able to afford this setup! 😂 Glad you're having so much fun... ya only live once.

I would love some tutorials about how to work the autopilot... I used to know how, but I took a break and now when I try to use it, it doesn't do what I think it should be doing ;-) Then again I'm usually flying in a plane that may differ from expected behavior. Who knows.

Glad you got Air Manager talking to XPlane... no idea on MSFS. Also no clue on the multimonitor setup, only ever used one.

I almost took a contract job with Intel in Phoenix 20 years ago or so... had a baby on the way so I took a salaried+benefits job in Cedar Rapids, IA instead. 😝 Life would have been radically different from that point on... oh well.

Yep a tablet or two can really enhance the simulation, AirManager is awesome.

Haha... wish I was there to help ya, I could get the linkage between the sim and Air Manager working for ya...

Complete overkill for flight sim, but hey... you obviously had a very lucrative career! 😂 Macs are great if they're supported for what you wanna do, until they're not... anyway, glad you at least came upon a solution to the problems.

Man, do not pay twice for all that software... if they are XPlane plugins, they support all platforms with API compatibility libraries. I even think you should be able to transfer the XPlane 11 license, but don't quote me on that. Considering your outlay so far I reckon it probably wouldn't be an immense hardship for you to buy it again, but still... I don't think there's any need...

MSFS out of the box is surely the more beautiful option. Most actual pilots say XPlane 11's flight model "feels" more correct. I've never flown, but I do enjoy the "feel" of XPlane more. But this also differs from plane to plane, i.e. some custom planes that companies make will use the flight model of the sim in better ways. XPlane is also more flexible and has built up many years of add-ons. But MSFS will catch up, I'm sure of it. What you absolutely wanna do is find a group of ADULTS to proffer opinions from on this, because boy... you should see the heated non-debates "MY flight simulator is better!" "No, MINE is!" between XP11 and MSFS fans on the Internet. And almost none of them are actual pilots, so you have to take everything you see with a grain of salt (or, better to just ignore.) You have access to both, and you've flown, so I'm sure you will have no problem determining which to use for yourself! Cheers!

Pedals are the one thing I don't have :( My current throttle "quadrant" is a Thrustmaster TWCS throttle, which has a nice paddle on the back that can control rudder. But when I get my new Honeycomb Bravo quadrant here in a couple days, I don't know what I'll do! I'm on Social Security so... can't get the Thrustmaster rudder right away. Might see if I can cheat and turn "auto-rudder" on in the sim or something... lame, I know. Lookin' good tho!

I know it may seem counterintuitive or backwards, but framerate is not as important in a flight simulator. As long as you can pull 60fps, it will be an enjoyable experience. People who play extremely fast paced games tend to want to get maximum refresh rate, but in a simulator I would favor image quality/resolution over framerate. Just personal experience and what I've heard from others.

Mouse is good for manipulating the camera in simulator. I am surprised you were not able to associate any of the in-game functions to buttons on your mouse.

Fun to watch... I am a couple years into the hobby of flight simming, but just getting back into it. I've had the Honeycomb yoke for awhile, and I have the Bravo throttle quandrant on the way. I have seen your playlist titles, so I saw you gave up on the Mac for simming... I think the main limitation of the Mac will be GPU performance and software compatibility... You say you are not technical but I don't believe it! You are a photographer and that takes technical ability... :-) I am a 45 year old guy with years of experience as a UNIX systems administrator so I'm good with software, if you need any help let me know.
