I used to play shows with these dudes all the time up in Tulsa Oklahoma. They were way before their time, the world just wasnt ready for them because thats when all the clubs stopped booking live bands and booking djs. I still remember the first time I saw them. The drummer sets up his drums so low its crazy and the lead singer well what can I say about him..... hes an enigma. The fist time I saw him I thought he was drunk off his ass and then the next second hes on the floor looking like hes having an overdose and then the next moment hes climbing on everything and having some sort of fit and the crazy thing is when you meet him is the most shy timid man you will ever meet but he has a voice like an air horn. We used to say he was using the force because he kinda looks like Mark Hammel in Star wars just the dark side of luke. But I agree with ChrisSmith these guys were not given a fair shot and should have been the biggest New band around touring with the like of (The) Mars Volta and Muse what a show that would be. I hope they will give it one more shot. But they are in their mid to late 40's by now.

Ryan, thanks for the dep dive into "The One". There is no doubt that Kanami Tono is a compositional and musical genius. With "The One" she has somehow created an emotional masterpiece that one can't fully understand how the underlying sound and timbre hits so deeply in the soul. Paired with the lyrics and Saiki's powerful voice, it's impossible for anyone with a soul not to feel the song's powerful impact. Every time I hear the song, I well up. I don't know if it does that to you, but I feel there are quite a few Band-Maid fans that feel the same way I do.

Thanks for posting! Always like watching you review music because your passion comes through. I think others (and bands as evident here ;) ) recognize it as well. ❤

It is so noticeable when Miku comes in at the choruses. The songs become so powerful it makes the band sound like they've turned the instruments up to 11. We all know how important Miku is to Band-Maid but I always get a thrill ( 😜 ) when I see and hear what a difference she makes. And Akane - she is a goddess!!!! 🤘🤘💕💕
