Nice idea! I saw tightlineproductions do this before but am wondering have you fished this fly and is it durable with just the resin?
@flytying3 ай бұрын
Yeah. Tightlines is the best and where I learned this. I have fished it and it's not as durable. I have a solution though. I add a bit more gel and let it bake in a fingernail uv light for 2 minutes to make sure it's very cured.
@thomasflyandtackle3 ай бұрын
@@flytying good idea, what tightlines did was put the resin on his thread and countererapped through the hackle and then cured. I would be curious to see if that method would be more durable

Do you think this would work in the winter or late fall (I fish mostly the lower provo in Utah) also on a 2 fly set up, would you fish it top or bottom fly? meaning where in the water column would you fish it? Last year i had most of my success on red worms, and sow bugs. During the winter on no-see-um dry flys and midge emergers. Tying up all kinds of winter flies riht now =) THank you
@flytying10 ай бұрын
Hi. I've had good luck with this after the spring run off when the worms are being washed out of the banks, but I think late fall would be good too. Fish Love worms. I fish this single under an indicator or floaty dry.

I don't entirely agree, you don't lose that many fish depending on barbed and barbless, in fact for such a hard mouth that tarpon have a barbless hook seems the more practical, as it won't have as much resistance to piercing the mouth with the barb, like gar for example, their mouths are entirely bone and you will have a lot more luck actually setting the hook while using barbless.
