I grew up in Miami. Played and saw a lot of great high school football there. As an adult, I lived in Va and saw Ronald Curry play on several occasions. Best high school football player I ever saw.. Bar none.

Too bad he ruined his career by ditching UVA for UNC TARHOLES. 4 Offensive co-ordinators in 4 years screwed his career.

Curry fucked himself by going to North Carolina. He went to NC because he wanted to wear Nike, and because he overestimated how good he was in basketball. He should have just focused on football, and he may have been something other than a bum in the NFL.

agreed, if he went to VA tech he woulda had a real career.

also, IIRC Vick went to VT over UVA because Curry was almost guaranteed to go there. That started a huge shift in recruits.

@FlatbedFred Agree 100% Going to UNC was a terrible decision, especially when head coach at the time, Mack Brown, left UNC for Texas well before signing day - this should have been an indication. Heck, he'd been better off going with Mack to Texas too! I realize that Curry wanted to play hoops, but UNC is no place for a talented football player, and let's be honest, he didn't have NBA talent, but he did have NFL talent....

This is a beautiful faciliy. We were there for Elvis' first show there, the matinee ofvApril 9, 1972. He wore the red jumpsuit for that one, blue at the evening performance. They blocked his moves for our show and filmed at night. He was electric! Thanks for the history lesson!

yall realize that curry at 6 foot 2 wouldve been a marginal NFL qb prospect.. wr was his way into the league.. if hed not gotten hurt so many times, especially to a troublesome area like the achilles, hed have dominated at wr. as a heels fan i wish he had fulfilled his potential. go heels

To bad this amazing athlete took his "talent" to the "Quaterback Graveyard". Why any HS QB would go to UNC is beyond me. Ha look they took Ronald Curry and turned him into a wide reciever.. Coulda coulda coulda blah blah.... Just hate it for the kid. He screwed the pooch on his college decision.... He ain't the first and certainly won't be the last.
@JohnnyWoodard7 жыл бұрын
That "Quaterback Graveyard" worked pretty well for Mitch Trubisky. Don't forget, Curry had a damaged Achilles tendon for most of his college career. He wasn't the same after his first major injury.

David Teel said it best that b-ball was his 2nd sport. Mike Smith said it best that football was his marquee sport. I really wished he'd stayed committed to UVA & played football because all the top prospects in the country wanted to play on the same team as him. Hands down, Ronald Curry, Allen Iverson and Terry Kirby are the best athletes to come out of the state of Virginia.
