Thank you! I have more projects I want to do and I'm considering re-recording my Dream of the Nioh run as one of them. This is more of a hobby for me and not full-time so don't expect regular or frequent uploads. I appreciate the support either way :)

Platform: PC, 60fps, no mods with Effect Quality set to Low. Game: Nioh 2 - The Complete Edition (Steam) Playthrough: First (NG - Dream of the Samurai) Controller: PS4 DualShock 4 After this fight I swap out Ame-no-Mitori for Kurama Tengu and respec to meet the stat requirements for its passives. From Otakemaru to the rest of the game, I'll only be using the Corrupted Weapons that Otakemaru drops after being defeated to show that the DLC can be cleared comfortably with them (without Soul Matching, Tempering or Remodeling). - Tonfa is an exception to get Tonfa Gun (for a little variety). Benkei has a maximum of 2 arrow volleys before he runs out. It is possible to have the fight last long enough to where he won't have enough arrows to auto-kill the crabs for you. Since Benkei's arrow was the one to get the kill, it doesn't actually track as my kill in the gameplay record (it's a blank entry) which is hilarious. I think you can double-check this in the main video linked at the bottom of this comment in the Gameplay Record section of the footage. Weapon, Spirit, Soul Cores, Clan and Stats: Spirit - Ame-no-Mitori (Feral) Weapon: Bonepile Spear - Corruption - Corrupted Weapons Deal 30% more damage when awakened (white bar under weapon icon filled and the weapon glows purple). Soul Cores: - Ippon Datara - Infernal Oni-Bi - Kiryoki Stats: Level: 123 Constitution - 5 Heart - 40 Courage - 21 Stamina - 5 Strength - 6 Skill - 28 Dexterity - 30 Magic - 30 Agility: A (27.7%) Toughness: C (70) Title Bonuses: Agyo: - Anima: +1.4 - Anima Charge: +7.0% - Yokai Ability Damage (All): +6.5% - Soul Core Drop Rate: +7.0% - Other Realm Resistance: +6.5 Ungyo: - Ki: +60 - Ki Recovery Speed: +6.0% - Ninjutsu Power: +24 - Onmyo Magic Power: +24 - Equipment Drop Rate: +6.0% Clan: Miyoshi (Post-Tatarimokke) - Ki Recovery (Unscathed): +8.0% - Defense Bonus: Enemies Defeated - A For Equipment I've compiled a separate video here: (the footage in this video also affirms what I've outlined above with stats and levels) Newgame 85 Bosses Stats & Equipment (Unlisted): kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y4aVeICleaZ-jc0 - Playlist: kzbin.info/aero/PLZeHBMdrXkpKwds-Nwa1UiK-MoXQGM8j_ - Full Video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e6aWc2OXpq2jqrs Thanks for Watching!

Game: Nioh 2 - The Complete Edition (Steam) Playthrough: First (NG - Dream of the Samurai) Controller: PS4 DualShock 4 While I did level up a little between dojo bosses, the stat differences are so minor that I won't be listing them here. Platform: PC, 60fps, no mods with Effect Quality set to Low. Game: Nioh 2 - The Complete Edition (Steam) Playthrough: First (NG - Dream of the Samurai) Controller: PS4 DualShock 4 Footage was recorded using 2 different new characters with the purpose of using all 3 Guardian Spirit types to demonstrate that any spirit and weapon can be used to clear the Boss efficiently. The intention was to provide a different perspective for people who are struggling, and to show that aggression and damage is not something that is exclusive to later in the game. There may be moments throughout the footage where Enki does basically no Ki damage. Unfortunately, this seems to be a bug that was never fixed. Thankfully, it's not guaranteed, but it does hamper the idea of using it. Killing its mini snake arms will make the Boss take a burst of damage as well as temporarily stun it (both can stack). - Using moves with vertical reach is effective at hitting the arms, like High Stance Attacks. Horizontal attacks can also hit the arms too at certain angles and timings. - A very effective way of killing both at the same time is to use the Mezuki Soul Core once the Boss transitions to the Dark Realm as both arms detach from the Boss to become an enemy. - As demonstrated early on, Mezuki can also be used when the Boss sends both arms into the ground to kill both at the same time while dealing a ton of burst damage. Hitting its glowing head will also stun the Boss. I generally prefer to lock onto the body rather than the head itself as I find it easier to fight the Boss this way, though there is a solid case for maintaining the head as the lock-on focus or swapping between the two depending on the situation. I highly recommend destroying all 3 Snake Statues found in the area before the Boss. If these aren't destroyed, then the pits in the Boss arena will be filled with poison which slows you and poisons you. All 3 Statues are found at the bottom level of the cave (same as the Boss). - Due to elevation being a thing in this game, sometimes Mezuki (and other attacks) can end up whiffing if for example one of the Snake arms falls into one of the pits during the Dark Realm transition, or if I myself was standing in a pit, which was a huge pain during recording. Damage Bonuses Used: - The main damage bonus used was a Corrupted Weapon. When the bar beneath the weapon icon is filled (by hitting the enemy), the weapon will glow purple and gain a damage bonus of 30%. - Another damage bonus I used is when you hit an enemy's back, you get roughly a ~60% damage bonus to your attack (this bonus also applies when enemies strike you from behind). - Lastly, the Feral Spirit, Masaru (the Monkey you get after the first mission), also has a damage bonus when you absorb Amrita which is 10%. You can tell when this is active by looking at the Sword icon below my Anima bar in the fights that I used Feral. * You may notice there's no Crusher Title notification (another way to tell I took no damage). This is because Titles become available after Enenra's mission is completed. Any Titles gained before then will be automatically unlocked after. There may be moments throughout the footage where Enki does basically no Ki damage. Unfortunately, this seems to be a bug that was never fixed. Thankfully, it's not guaranteed, but it does hamper the idea of using it. There are also moments when Mezuki's Yokai Ability/Soul Core doesn't deal much damage. This is because Mezuki does more or less damage depending on if the handle part or the blade part of the move connects, with the blade portion dealing more damage. I typically tried to use Mezuki to predict Enenra moving away from me to punish it. About the Pillars in the Boss room and a breakdown of the damage bonuses used: - The pillars in the Boss room can be broken by the Boss itself or by certain player actions (specific Soul Cores like Mezuki are 1 example). - Some Boss moves cannot break the pillars, like when he throws the small tornadoes, spawns the exploding mines and both of his Burst Attacks. - The rest of his moveset can break the pillars (his punches, kicks and slam attacks). - When a pillar is broken, it drops a water bucket. If this bucket lands on the Boss, the Boss will end up with a Status Element Debuff called "Saturation" as well as taking a lot of Ki damage. - Enemies or the player who has the Saturation Debuff will take 20% extra damage from attacks. - Another damage bonus I used is when you hit an enemy's back, you get roughly a ~60% damage bonus to your attack (this bonus also applies when enemies strike you from behind). - I use this at the beginning of the fight, as well as other stages. - Lastly, the Feral Spirit, Masaru (the Monkey you get after the first mission), also has a damage bonus when you absorb Amrita which is 10%. You can tell when this is active by looking at the Sword icon below my Anima bar in the fights that I used Feral. It'll vary from player to player, but I do think especially early on that the Shiftling Tree skills are very valuable and worth focusing on over the Amrita blessing for more level-ups. - Skills were taken in both the Ninjutsu and Onmyo Trees though they aren't relevant at the moment for the Boss clear. That said, skills were taken in the Onmyo tree to prep for taking the skill for longer Yokai Pool purification range (and others not mentioned here). Proficiency in both trees are usually leveled as I clear the stage, using things like Gunpowder Bombs and Shuriken for Ninjutsu and buffing myself using Divination Talisman for Onmyo respectively. Weapon Proficiency Level: 5-6 (4-5 Skill Points) - Points used will try to be accurate to the expected Weapon Proficiency at the time the Boss is encountered in a normal playthrough (mileage may vary). - Any excess points gained will not be used as the goal is to emulate a new character/player as much as possible. - Excess points will be gained naturally due having to reset the fight (due to taking damage). Note: It's possible to unlock Flux before seeing Gozuki in the first area. The stone near the first Shrine gives 2 Small Spirit Stones and killing the nearby Gaki will also give some amrita. Using both Spirit Stones, defeating the Gaki and looting the nearby corpses should give enough to level and get the first Samurai Skill point. DLC Boons were used in the Shrine with two of the accessories that were given being equipped. If you're unable to obtain these by using the Boons tab in the Shrine, there's a guide on the Steam Nioh 2 Forums that has a solution. - The reason there is no Demon Horde Variant of the Splitstaff and Fists weapon types is because the Demon Horde stuff was released before these weapons were introduced (both weapon types were released with later DLC). - So, if you want to begin the game with either the Splitstaff or Fists you MUST choose either one of them or both as your starting weapons or get lucky with drops from enemies/loot. - The Blacksmith (unlocked after the second main mission) also sells these weapons. Tesso's a fairly underused core for sure, admittedly not without good reason, though I do think there are some cool use cases for it that could be explored further.

@@SealedSecret so tesso's utility is pretty much ki drain right? Or to assist in reduction of Ki?
@SealedSecret
@SealedSecret 4 ай бұрын
It's both. It drains the maximum Ki of Yokai enemies, reducing their total reserves incrementally the longer they're in the stink cloud. On human enemies it's less effective since it just drains their Ki in small increments (which they can regenerate back). Tesso also inflicts the Stench ailment which works the same as the one the enemies inflict on you, making enemies wince if they use an Elixir while also reducing how much they heal from one. As far as I'm aware, it has no other effect, so the ailment is practically useless outside of that. Tesso works pretty well on enemies that have fairly long animations that they have to commit to, like a Yokai transitioning to the Dark Realm or recovering from a Grapple. Allowing you to punish them a bit more by reducing their maximum Ki reserves, making it easier to knock them down and/or wind them. For 3 cost the maximum Ki damage it does is pretty respectable assuming they're in the cloud for its whole duration.

@@SealedSecret ok cool! Outside of shibata katsuie any other bosses you have seen utility for it? Also last question, what the best way to have ki recovery? Thanks!
@SealedSecret
@SealedSecret 4 ай бұрын
I've been using Tesso against Azai Nagamasa recently and it works pretty well. I mostly use it after landing a Grapple on him before the first Dark Realm phase. He's stationary during his flight animation long enough for Tesso to chip his Ki for the follow-up Burst Counter on his thrust. For Ki Recovery, there's a whole lot of things that can/would help directly and indirectly (I won't cover all of them in this reply). The most common is to use a Barrier Talisman from the Onmyo Tree or Sacred Water. I recommend having at least 20 points in Magic (at the bare minimum) for a decent enough duration for Barrier. Investing in Heart, Courage and Skill can help too. Heart for a larger Ki pool and some regen, Courage for pure regen and Skill helps your Ki Pulses recover more (iirc). Also Flux and Flux 2 (switching stances during Ki pulse) will help you maintain and recover more. If you're struggling with Ki pulsing, I want to mention that you don't need to do a perfect Ki Pulse in order to purify Yokai pools, you also don't need to do a perfect one in order to Flux either. You can also recover Ki normally while you use Yokai abilities/Soul Cores, so use them whenever you have an opportunity. Both Yokai Abilities and Burst Counters allow you to animation cancel your attacks, meaning you can use them at any point in your attack animations (some exceptions exist). Last, I'll mention are Burst Counters. In the Shiftling Skill Tree, there are upgrades for it that will give you a Ki Recovery Buff as well as recover 80% of your Ki immediately as soon as you land a Counter. There's also upgrades in there that reduce the effect the Dark Realm and Yokai Pools have on your Ki Recovery (if you haven't gotten these already). If you aren't comfortable landing Burst Counters, I very highly recommend that you practice because these are very helpful and important for maintaining your offense.

How do u beat this guy in first playthrough of the game. Also what are the drop chances for the armor smith text and also the weapon smithing text.
@SealedSecret
@SealedSecret 11 ай бұрын
For his initial spear charge, (the one where he stands still then thrusts at the beginning of the video) the timing to avoid it is telegraphed by watching his right hand. A little bit after it flashes is when to dodge. This variant of it can't be blocked and can only be dodged or avoided by positioning somewhere behind him (but not too close). He also has a different variant he uses typically after a dodge that's faster (at 0:36). This variant can be blocked (like at 0:51) and can be punished. The hyper armor he has/can give himself after he calls down lightning can be abused too, since he no longer staggers, it's possible to get more hits in than normal before he can react (this can vary though). I'll link a video at the end of my comment that I posted a little while ago showing a clear I did on the first playthrough. It's not the best reference, but I hope it helps at least a little. For smithing texts, I've no clue what the actual drop chances are, but they seem pretty low (maybe 1% or something). I haven't done any proper testing, but raising your Item Drop Rate and probably Luck will help. I recall hearing at some point that the Kodama Blessing that boosts your Material Drop Rate helps, but I've recently seen some folks say it doesn't. I still use it anyways since there isn't really another Blessing to use for farming texts. Best of luck! kzbin.info/www/bejne/fpPPlI14mbh9oqc

No Weapons were Remodeled nor Tempered with Attack Bonus Passives. Only Exception is Splitstaff with Damage Bonus (Equipment Lightness): A. No Samurai/Shiftling Skill Passives were used besides Masterful Slice and Arcana of Water. None of the other ones were used (Damage Boosting ones or otherwise). 7 Piece Ame-no-Uzume was used for the 11 Mystic Art Dojo Bosses and Ancient Nyotengu (7 Piece Ame, 5 Piece Marici, 2 Piece Susano). All 108 Floors of the Underworld were completed before the run. I wanted to get the set bonuses for the build used in the video, which is why I did them. I could've done the same 2-3 floors but that would've been very boring, so I decided to finish all floors. For anyone curious, I did about 60 floors using Benzaiten's grace with the Red Kodama buff, then swapped to Death Dancer (Ame-no-Uzume) and I believe 3 Piece Tsukuyomi the rest of the way. A Few Notes: Obsidian Samurai did not start off with his Curse because the duration the Curse is nullified carries over to the next attempt at the Boss (so after you die for instance and reset the fight). This was something I noticed a couple days after recording the fight. I decided not to re-record this for 2 reasons: The first is his Curse would've been auto-nullified anyways since the first action he took was a Burst Attack. The second is I like to record these in order while progressing through the playthrough so going back wasn't really an option at the point I realized. I was a little hesitant at the start of Honda's fight since the thing mentioned above also applies to the Hyper Armor he gives himself. The remaining duration carries over to the next attempt, even if the visual effect isn't visible, so I had to try and use moves that wouldn't bounce on him and wait out the duration a little. This was my first time using Shuriken Cancels, I improve a lot later on.

Platform: PC, 60fps, no mods with Effect Quality set to Low. Game: Nioh 2 - The Complete Edition (Steam) Playthrough: First (NG - Dream of the Samurai) Controller: PS4 DualShock 4 Deaths: 3131 (Not including resets/title screen quit-outs) Actual number is probably 3700+ or so. Play Time: 131 Hours and 22 Minutes. Took 2 weeks, no breaks were taken. - Not all missions in the game were completed. Mostly the bare minimum, though most of the early regions were fully cleared. Starting Weapons: Sword (+1 Heart) and Splitstaff (+1 Magic) Starting Spirit: Makami (Brute, +1 Strength) No weapons were Tempered or Soul-Matched and used as-is. Accessories were Tempered, and weapons were refashioned post-Uminyudo. No armor was ever equipped on this character. Recorded on a fresh character. Since Clans are available early for subsequent characters, I left my Clan before starting the playthrough. I compiled a separate video showing my level and gear before or after every Boss encounter for those interested. It's linked at the end of the description as well as my previous Dream of the Demon - All Bosses & DLC No Damage run. This was recorded after my recent Dream of the Demon run so some of the optimizations I used here are not in that video. I still have a whole lot of room for improvement, and there are parts of this video that I'm not fully satisfied with. All in all, though, I think it turned out alright. * (Fujiwara no Chikata) - I don't take damage during the entire sequence as a counterbalance to me using the Mujina. 3rd wave with Jiji and Kinki is brutal and feels intended to use the Mujina. Not impossible without, but very painful in the scope of my Guidelines. Some General Thoughts: Up until Saika Magoichi I managed to not die much at all. Saito Toshimitsu was a first try which was surprising (and also why the clear is a bit sloppy). The vast majority of my deaths were in the Dojo though. By the time I was done there, I recall hitting a little over 2,000 deaths or just under that. Speaking of Dojo missions, I have some general thoughts to share: For the Axe Dojo, I ended up not using Spinning Slide and Rumbling Earth. Spinning Slide is very useful here since it's easy to bait Kintoki into using his full attack string, making it easy to activate Spinning Slide and counterattack for basically free (I recommend using Tri-Spark). Rumbling Earth can be used in response to his own since you can out-range his with yours, though it's pretty risky. The hardest dojos were probably: Sword, Axe and Hatchets. Sword isn't terrible since there are opportunities, just that the Ai can be a huge pain sometimes. Kintoki in general is not a very well- designed boss in my opinion. In the Axe dojo, his Axe seems to be about twice as long as the players, giving him more range. He also has a ton of hyper armor and his moves like Rumbling Earth require less time to charge. His Ki Recovery is also nuts and he doesn't use much Ki when attacking, making punishing him difficult. Essentially, it's not a well-designed experience for demonstrating Axe mastery since to me Axe is about Unga Bunga, and when you have a Boss that can no-sell most everything you do with that in mind, it really just devolves into hit-and-run which isn't what Axe is about. Hatchets is an interesting one since his Ai seems more passive in comparison to his Axe version, and you can just throw Hatchets until you win. Main issue here is he can be so passive that he literally doesn't do much if anything. In the footage here I have to approach him and get in his face for him to really do anything (he isn't the only boss like this either, in the dojo and outside). Initiating can be tough since he can counterattack so quickly due to not doing anything prior.

Platform: PC, 60fps, no mods with Effect Quality set to Low. Game: Nioh 2 - The Complete Edition (Steam) Playthrough: Third (NG+2 - Dream of the Demon \ DotD) Clan: Miyoshi - +8% Ki Recovery (Unscathed), Defense Bonus: Enemies Defeated A Controller: PS4 DualShock 4 Deaths: ~3458* Resets: ~500-800 Play Time: ~219 Hours 53 Minutes* Starting Level: ~217 Final Level: 327 *Note: Since I'm using the same character from my previous No Damage Run, I'll be subtracting the Play Time and Deaths from that Run with this one. I also spent around 14 hours getting all the Hidden Skills/Arts from Bosses during NG+ as well as rerolling my Picture Scroll. Link to my previous run (NG - All Bosses + DLC No Damage No Armor): kzbin.info/www/bejne/qnSkoquDhNecrJo Most Missions were skipped. Missions Including Bosses were prioritized and many levels were skipped through to get to the Boss. Footage was recorded not long after finishing my previous run in late April/Early May, with all footage done being collected around early July. I took a handful of breaks including a 2 week one. Remodeling was not done/used at the Blacksmith, but Tempering was for my Weapons, Armor and Accessories. The only Samurai Passives used were Masterful Slice and Arcana of Water (probably an Arcana of Fire somewhere, though the main ones are the aforementioned ones). Build: (1:24:01) Hat Helmet (+Ki Recovery Winded Enemy) 5 Piece Dragon Ninja (+8% Melee Damage, +ATK Ninjutsu Hit, Extended Dodge Invulnerability) 2 Piece Hotei's Grace (+7% Ki Recovery Unscathed) Active Skill Damage ~29% (All Armor Tempered with Active Skill Damage, Star Roll on Helmet) Increased Attack (Winded Enemy) - Demon Parade Picture Scroll (Dream of the Strong) Melee Damage Vs. Zero Ki Enemy (+19.6%) - Star Roll Accessory (Post-Imagawa Yoshimoto) Corrupted Weapon (+30% when Awakened)

Read for more info: Platform: PC 60FPS, Effect Quality: Low, No Mods, played using a PS4 Dualshock 4 Controller. Playthrough was done on a fresh character. Since Clans are available early for subsequent characters, I left my current clan before starting the playthrough. Starting Weapons: Sword (+1 Heart) and Splitstaff (+1 Magic) Starting Spirit: Makami (Brute, +1 Strength) Clan: (Post-Tatarimokke) Miyoshi - Ki Recovery (Unscathed) 5~8% or so, Defense Bonus based on enemies killed (helped with level clearing) Deaths: 1682 (Probably closer to 2000 due to Travel Amulet/Earthfold Talisman resets and Title Screen Quit-Outs for when I kill a boss during practice) Play Time: 159 Hours 17 Minutes. Footage was recorded over a 3-week time period with breaks. The entire playthrough was done with no armor, with only the Bosses being no damage while having done most of the missions (main + side) in the game (roughly 90%). I never tempered or soul matched my weapons at the Blacksmith and used them as-is. I did temper my accessories and got very lucky since I ended up finding 3-4 accessories with Faster Winded Recovery as a passive throughout the playthrough lmao. I forgot to record my first Mezuki kill so I didn't loot anything on the second. I also didn't change my soul cores from the starting ones for the first 3 main bosses since I figure not every player will be lucky enough to get new/different cores. Frankly there's a lot of bosses that I wanted to do a Take Two for like Toshimitsu, but by the time I wanted to, I was usually already too far ahead. I'm satisfied enough with the run overall though; it was pretty fun shaving off a lot of rust and learning/practicing all the bosses. If I do another run, I'll likely exclude Fujiwara no Chikata since he's a pain to get to as the gauntlet before him has to be done every time you wanna fight him which can be pretty tedious. That's also why I played pretty defensively.
