I've actually had the opposite journey. I hated it when it first came out and voted for my guild not to take part. (Un)fortunately i got outvoted, so i had to do my bit for the guild. We downsized our expectations for it, however, so we play at level three. That means less need for a full D3 lineup and more emphasis on using your roster at uncommon, rare or epic, which is just much more feasible for the majority of us. It also puts the onus on synergy rather than stats, so we can be a lot more adventurous in our team competitions. And once I get into theory crafting land, I'm a happy bunny.

I can see the appeal of the mode as being quite different to other content on offer, which is why I don't want to be too brash about demanding Snowprint change it up front. I do think that another look at people's attitudes toward the mode is overdue, however. I think the results would be different enough to be of interest at least.
@CountCasualКүн бұрын
@@Unappreciator I can't disagree with that. I said I got outvoted, but there were a fair few of us that didn't care for the mode at all and they haven't had the same journey towards appreciation as I have. Participation rates can therefore be a bit low, which just ruins it for everyone. If I could change one thing about the mode, it'd be the medic tiles. They're just stupid and have far too big an impact. But if I could change one more thing, it'd be to have some form of variable participation requirements. If we've got 20 people doing their bit, if the other guild has 25 we automatically lose.

@MidnightHozz3 күн бұрын
From Nandi's SP visit video, I was surprised to hear someone at SP going on the record as being happy with GW. Because almost no player seems to be. The biggest problem is the schedule. The actual wars are condensed into 15 days out of 35. Why? It seems to me the season should start when the BP starts and end when the BP ends and then you could squeeze 6 wars at 5 days each and still have the dead time cushion at the beginning/end of the season. That's just an idea, but 60 tokens in 15 days is too much right now. The other big problem with it is the store. The last time they touched it was May 2024 and it was to replace Ulf with Njal...Rotbone should stay but the other two characters need to be rotated and that should have happened already. Further, I think they should add books and badges, and perhaps Legendary Orbs, as purchase options.
@Unappreciator2 күн бұрын
I was perplexed at Snowprint being happy with the mode - unless that was on the basis of their survey and nothing else, it made zero sense. Don't get me started on the stagnant, limited range of shop options either. I was going to go into it, but even then having good rewards doesn't change the fundamental shit nature of the mode.

@Unappreciator5 күн бұрын
Didn't linger too long on the replay because the contents aren't much different to my previous replay from this battle. The main differences are that I have changed my moves slightly in turn 2 to reduce the number of spore mines required to bait Morty to the correct position. Also, I sacrificed Aleph going into the final round so that she could heal the Scarab Swarm adjacent to her with her passive and keep it alive, which prevents Morty from being able to fly up onto the high ground to his North in his final turn. What's interesting here is that I fully expected him to kill Eldryon in the final turn, which is what I wanted to keep Tan and the summons adjacent to him from being killed by Reaping Scythe. Morty, however, despite his preference for targeting psykers, still went for the group of characters and summons. There is obviously some level of preference for him to use Reaping Scythe on groups, but I think his behaviour may go so far as to not attack single targets with it at all. So I think that Eldryon on his own is actually pretty safe going into the final round, as Morty really likes to use his Reaping Scythe in his final turn and Eldryon either won't be hit with it or will be hit with Morty's normal melee attack, which he can tank at least one of. It would be interesting to put Eldy in the same position in the penultimate round and see if Morty uses Reaping Scythe against him if Eldy has a spore mine adjacent to him.

An improvement on my previous method, I realised that it wasn't necessary to use Rho's active early on, so I saved it for the final two turns. I also changed up the positioning of Rho and Re'vas a little in the 4th turn to be able to get 4 extra hits out of Conqueror mode in the last 2 turns, which added up to quite a lot more damage in total. I forgot that I had already used Actus' active in the final turn, so gathering Re'vas and Rho around him was pointless and cost about 500 damage from Re'vas in giving up high ground. I could maybe try to not use Actus's active early on in the battle, but that might leave me unable to finish off both Terminators quickly enough. It might be possible with stronger spore mines and a better Re'vas, but for now it is too risky, at least at this level.

I think this will be the last replay I share from this map for a while, it's pretty formulaic up to a point and then you just have to go along with whatever RNG nightmare you get served up. I'd never be able to collect a replay for every possible eventuality, so understanding the boss is a must. Once I unlock Helbrecht that will provide at least a little variety and could be worth it as a comparison to Aleph's performance. My average damage against Magnus this season has been around 480k, which isn't as good as what a multi-hit team can do but isn't totally useless either.

I had a big pause before the second wave of Harlequins emerged because I was trying to figure out a way for Tan to no die. I put him in conqueror mode to prevent him from spawning a Skitarius, which would have prompted the emerging Harlequins to use their actives on the two clumped-up targets and almost certainly killed Tan. Burchard was sent forward as a sacrifice to keep some of the heat off of Tan as well. Vindicta could have been stone 1 and done her job here as long as she had a good crit item equipped, and her killing so many Harlequins with splash damage was enough to win me the battle. When there are 4 Skitarii out on the battlefield at the start of my turn, I like to attack with Tan but heal one of the Skitarii if possible, as an extra attack with Tan does not give me extra Skitarii and I'd rather have my meat shields as healthy as possible.

Question for you on the mechanics here, I just tried this and my actus trigger attack didn't kill the thrid rubric marine. He then copied my actus across the map messing up the setup for the run. Is the trigger for that linked to the number of adds he has on grid?
@Unappreciator14 күн бұрын

@grahamcardwell887214 күн бұрын
@Unappreciator my second try ended in complete disaster, but I think it's because my actus needs one more level on his passive to finish off that thrid rubric. If he doesn't, then the other skitarii does come over to dmg the terminator and or the scarb spawn doesn't go where it's supposed to. Then everything is out of position and magnus runs to the bottom of them map and the entire attack is screwed at that point.

@Unappreciator14 күн бұрын
Just thought I would add a couple of extra things here because there's always stuff I forget: It wasn't the case in this replay, but you can find yourself in situations where you have many Scarab swarms crowding around Magnus. I mentioned that they can be a false friend, in that when they are hit by Tzeentch's Firestorm they are liable to allow Magnus to move unless you also place a character in the area. Of course, summons move before characters, so you may find yourself screened out from being able to move a character to a blocking position by your own, overly-numerous Scarab swarms. Beware of this and try to pre-empt it by moving characters before they are stopped from going where you want them to. Also, for some reason I had a brainfart and couldn't remember that when I was talking about the potential of the Scarab swarm moving to high ground and blocking Rho, the hex directly North of the Terminator is not adjacent to it due to there being a cliff between them. With regards to scarabs targeting Terminators in preference to Magnus, this only seems to happen when Magnus is at low health and the Terminator is uninjured, but you'll be surprised at how frequent and annoying this is.

@Unappreciator14 күн бұрын
For characters/units to be pushed back by the ability, there need to be empty hexes behind them to be pushed back into. Rho wasn't pushed because there is a wall behind him and Actus and Tan weren't pushed because they had Skitarii/other characters behind them.

@@jamesmonks4643 Just be careful that none of the units you have blocking your characters from being knocked back are killed by the ability, because if they are then they will no longer stop the knockback and the boss may break free. Thank you for creating this video. I was able to clear Gamma 14 with the same characters by following your advice. It took forever as you patiently demonstrated! @Unappreciator15 күн бұрын

When you're using Sho'syl, getting Sniper drones out ASAP and keeping them alive is vital to LRE success. Having 3 summons that can each kill an enemy per turn is invaluable, but their fragility means you have to go to great lengths to protect them. Chaos Guardsmen, with their high damage, are particularly annoying as they are easily able to overcome the drones' low armour stat and kill them in one shot. The more drones you lose, the more enemies survive from spawning, the more they press you and the harder it is to build up your drone swarm again. Take care of them, and they'll take care of you.

Slight optimisation of my previous method, manipulating spawn locations of Skitarii to prevent any from dying to the Tank's Pound Them to Dust ability. With the positioning of the characters used in the first round, this strategy would not be possible if Actus were to be suppressed by the mortar team, so in future I will place him one hex to the NW of where I did. I also missed out on up to 12k damage by forgetting to use Actus' active whilst Rho still had his online, so I reckon with a maxed team I might just be able to scrape 700k damage here.

That shouldn't be too much of a problem as long as Eldryon's damage doesn't get dipped so far that he can't kill the mortar team in one attack - that doesn't happen for me, so I don't know what would then occur in that case. But if he does get suppressed, move him up into the trench regardless, hit the mortar with his ranged attack and you'll be able to play things out more or less the same from there, you just won't have the tank doomed at the very start of the next round.
