I am in the market for a < 35 Lakh rupee car. I test drove both Safari Accomplished Plus/Harrier Fearless and Xuv700 AX7L(Diesel). Suspension is really good on both cars but Safari wins. Acceleration, Xuv700 wins, the pull is so linear, it just keeps pulling. Acceleration is not bad in Safari but if we have to compare Xuv700 is better in this regard. I liked the infotainment and interiors of the Safari more but I believe buttons in the Xuv700 is a better choice. Moreover, interiors are subjective so it really depends. Since Xuv700 has AWD so it basically has a trick over its sleeves compared to Safari. Music, hands down Safari those JBLs are magical, the ones on XUV700 are also good for a car at this price but not a match for the safari. During the test drive when I commented the speakers on Safari are better he did mention that one speaker near the rear seat was not working. Overall both of them are beautiful machines, you wouldn't be wrong if you picked any of them. You can go for either of them. For performance I believe XUV700 is a better option. For comfortable drives I think Safari is better suited.

Both are awesome Utility vehicles. They are actually products to be very proud off as an Indian. Providing world class safety, features and looks. Maybe the performance or Fit and Finish might not be able to match up with roboticly manufactured German cars that have super narrow tolerances for errors but Indian Industry catching upto this level is phenomenal. Within a decade we might surpass or breakeven the manufacturing quality of german cars without increasing too much of complexities. Also, local manufacturers need to enhance the aftersale services, since this has a huge potential in continuously making the customer feel bad for choosing thw product and associating oneself with the company. We also need to stop this racist behavior of believing that Jeep, or VAG are better or high class (this includes Toyota too) and support our local manufacturers.

Last month, i drove xuv 700 and safari facelift for 3,000 kilometers both till Manali(automatic). It is my take away: 1: Safari suspension is amazing, it smoothly glides over bad patches 2: Safari gearbox is better, and fees less jerking while shifting. 3: safari has better road presence, xuv is also beautiful, but safari has an edge. 4: Third row is practical in safari. XUV 700….. 1: Engine is just rocket, very refined, feels like driving BMW. 2: The car is more spacious despite the fact that middle row can slide in safari. 3: Cabin feels more luxurious. 4: Easy to drive vehicle for thousands of kilometers, no tiredness. 5: Zero software glitches encountered during trip. 6: Under thigh support is better in xuv. 7: Adas is very accurate in xuv 700. Note: Please don’t get offended, but xuv in my opinion, is more practical car, and gives a feel driving any foreign made car. Sometimes, hard to believe it was made by Mahindra.
