You are of course entitled to your own opinion. But read Proverbs 23:13-14. The Old Testament at least clearly teaches physical discipline. The rod is not only to lead.
@faithfulmothers7 күн бұрын
Thanks for listening, I appreciate your comment. I've read these verses many times. I've also done extensive commentary and research. My problem with those verses and spanking is actual spanking is not mentioned at all. Spanking is a man made form of discipline. If we are to be disciplining with an actual rod, well that could actually do a lot of damage to a child. My belief is that the rod is used as a symbol of discipline. Just above in the same chapter Proverbs 23:2 - it talks about putting a knife to your throat if you are given to appetite - does this actually mean we should put knives to our throats? I believe the wisdom it is trying to impart is to control and not give into gluttony. As these verses are not commands but rather wisdom then I think It is not loving of parents to let their children do whatever they want and grow up to be a fool. We of course are supposed to discipline our children. My other biggest consideration as an evangelical Christian is that Jesus does not mention spanking once. Thanks for respecting my opinion even if you do not agree.
@askfortheoldpaths7 күн бұрын
@@faithfulmothers I respect your opinion and of course you have a right to parent how you wish. That's between you and God. But I do feel that the Biblical support for spanking runs deeper. For a New Testament reference, consider Hebrews 12. And remember, the writings of the apostles essentially carry the same weight as the Gospels, since it was the apostles who wrote the Gospel accounts. Certainly, Proverbs 23:2 is to be taken metaphorically. But the Hebrew word for rod is "shebet," and the way I've always heard it is it speaks of a twig or slim stick, more like a switch. As far as spanking, the term does appear in The Living Bible, The Message, Good News Bible, etc. But it doesn't appear in the older versions. Interestingly, this is one case where those seeking a less literal interpertation prefer the old translations as opposed to the modern paraphrases.

Balancing rest and productivity… this is a hard one for me. I feel guilty no matter which I do because I’m not doing enough of the other one. Also, I get discouraged because if I make a plan or schedule for my day, then it gets derailed by kid melt downs or a special opportunity or anything, I feel like I failed. I also don’t want to not be available to my kids so I can follow my schedule. Any advise? Thanks for the video ❤ 2:12 love this all!
@faithfulmothers25 күн бұрын
I think it starts by scheduling in rest - and not feeling guilty about it because we NEED it. I'm also a big fan of quick 5 minute rests in the business of the day! Also quick 5 minute connections with each of my kids helps especially at key times like after school, and when they first wake up or before bed. I try to be intentional at those 3 times of the day and it keeps the guilt at bay! My favorite thing to repeat is "This is what the Lord has for me right now/today." That way I don't get frustrated when my plans derail!

Hello! Thanks for sharing! Im having difficulties finding templates setup for families/couples that combine some expenses/responsibilities, aka have joined accents, credit cards. This almost fits my needs. :) Does your husband use a copy of this same layout or do you both work on it together? We are husband and wife, have our own income and expenses, so we need to keep finances separated but we also come together to jointly pay for family expenses, so, we’ve tried to simplify by automating payments and using joined credit cards.
@faithfulmothersАй бұрын
Yes! I do the majority of our finances but we need to use a lot of cash for many of our expenses so he mainly just inputs his cash expenses. We have joint accounts but I also have a separate account and cc for my business that he doesn’t need access to. You can assign a person to every input you enter into the database and then set up filters so he sees just what he needs to see and you see what you need to see. Email me at [email protected] and I will send you a little video on how to make that work for your needs.

What did you learn from your experience that you wish you knew beforehand? What advice can you give me?

@@joshuafusselman3323 I think the older the youth is the harder they will push away but also that a very special bond will likely be created because so many people have let them down before. Curious if 4 years has been long enough for any of your kids to learn Spanish? You’re doing well with it and I’m sure you hear often that you have a natural sound to your accent (former Spanish as a second language speaker, you don’t use it you loose it scenario). Oh - you answered my question later in the video 😊

Yes our kids amaze me! They pick it up so much easier but full immersion with no other option 5 hours a day of school was so great for them! Rosie is just starting to pick it up now and our little guy fully understands and will speak it to our friends but only speaks English to us!

Our older brains for sure have a harder time picking up new language, but look at all the other things your brain is doing at the same time - running a household, raising kids, keeping your marriage healthy, making videos for us! The list goes on! Really your Spanish sounds very natural and you can tell you’re not translating in your head before speaking so that is huge! Well done! Thank you for the reply ❤️

Would you still go to Nicaragua to help the people if you were not permitted to evangelize? I don't mean anything bad by this question. I am an atheist technically (Buddhist), but I have helped people all around the world, including Nicaragua, and I have never stopped digging a latrine or donating time to a clinic to ask them why they believe in God, and if I could tell them of the 'joy' of living an ethical and morale life without scripture. I know Mennonites working in North Korea who are involved in apple farming. They are not permitted to speak on the subject of religion to North Koreans. One of the men said, 'It's fine. They see what we do, and that we truly care... and they know we are Christians. That is all the evangelizing we need to do." I thought that was powerful. Please don't take my question the wrong way. You seem to be great folks, and my Great Dane was watching your beautiful Doberman on the screen... Best of luck.

Kait, or anyone, I’m trying to learn this in my own life; how do I know if God is calling my to do something or if it’s my own idea. How do I know if he placed something on my heart or if I just have a passion for it. How do I know if I’m following his path or thinking I am but I’m on my own?
@faithfulmothers3 ай бұрын
I love this question! I find that it becomes like an itch you cannot scratch. God will often confirm things in multiple ways, whatever it is lines up with the Bible. He doesn't say things contrary to His word. He also uses other people/situations to show what He wants from you. I also like to take time away to truly listen and continue to pray on it and ask Him for confirmation. If I am still struggling with if its from him or just my own mind I will fast and that usually clears things up!

I have been learning about taking a Sabbath weekly- is this something you all do as a family?
@faithfulmothers3 ай бұрын
Yes we take our sabbath on Sundays after church. We still do grocery shop and then do an hour of prepping the house but from 11am on we take a sabbath….but maybe doing the groceries and cleaning on Saturday is something we could be more intentional with but our heart is to fully rest for the Lord. With how far we live from town and the time our church service is (8am) this is what is working for the season as we usually rest on Saturday mornings aswell instead of driving to town. We don’t do any activities on our sabbath aside from close friends birthdays or other fellowship events where the whole family is invited (our kids don’t go to friends only parties on Sundays, we politely decline)
