Yes, at this time Joey was very influenced by Now He Sings... At least melodically and harmonically. Rhythmically he did some stuff Chick didn't do.

@@jazzmatte1 I love Joey’s playing and always have. Untold numbers of pianists were influenced by Now He Sings. That record sounds just as fresh today as the day it was recorded.

"Steps" is a minor blues, so not quite. But i would say Joey's playing in these early recordings was heavily influenced by the "Now he sings, now he sobs" album.

And we can certainly say that both Joey and Chick were heavily influenced by McCoy. The beggining of the solo I think is pure McCoy. The articulation is so similarm.
