Tema urgente para nossas discussões. Parabéns, Professor Ricardo!!
@LucianoRodolfodeMouraMachadoАй бұрын
My name is Luciano Machado. I am Brazilian, Catholic, and since 2015 I have been doing pastoral work with Integral Ecology, inspired by the Encyclical Laudato Si'. I organized a group of people in my diocese (São José dos Campos - SP) and conducted academic research on this work, which resulted in a doctoral thesis. I published the results in a book called "Laudato Si': educational practice for an integral ecology". Because of this trajectory, I am very interested in the theme of Religion and Ecology, especially the issue of spirituality. That is why I am taking this course and intend to deepen my knowledge on this subject. I would also like to exchange experiences and meet more people who also have this interest. Thank you very much!

Cannot get enough of the New Story as shared by Thomas Berry. His telling of the scientific sacred story is awesome gift
@JumpingSpider37Ай бұрын
A beautiful point on finding the point of “enough”. Such a simple concept with such deep underlying questions. How do we determine what enough is? How do we create opportunities to discuss what that might look like? Does “enough” differ from community to community? Individual to individual? Great stuff! Thank you for sharing!

Very rare and fascinating insight. Unfortunately, to recognize and fully conceive of ourselves as integrally embedded in and dependent on the web of life that is the more than human world is far beyond the collective capacity of atomized human consciousness and so is not possible as a guiding principal within the broader human super organism as it currently exists.

Suspicious of activist or erudite instrumentalization of YESHUA. He seems to keep saying he wants to connect with Joe Truck Driver, or how do we motivate the MAGA guy. This is what the Nationalists are doing on the right, instrumentalizing Christianity as a means of achieving a vision of the next civ. or the ideal civ.

It was incredible to listen to this interview in 1998 from copies of the original tapes. Very much prescient and should have been heeded a quarter of a century ago. Brian Swimme was a beautiful interviewer. The Universe Story authored by both is a beautiful book that should be read by all. It's wonderful to listen to this again. Thank you and God bless these highly sensitive sages.

Many Europeans and North Americans remain extremely merciful towards themselves and towards those they consider worthy of their friendship, as if the rest of the world did not exist. Where is the mercy and oblivion in the Gaza genocide? Let's at least talk about Gaza, not to mention centuries of colonialism, imperialism, wars, carnage, looting, coups, blockades etc. etc. etc.

Why is this sister ‘preaching’ New Age Eugenics and not the Truth of Christianity let alone Catholicism. Sad times we live in. The confusion that she and many like her are causing the laity and anyone seeking truth is scary because their souls depend on sound teaching. Not tickling of the ears with this gobbligook! Cosmos? That’s Scientology and satanic! Has she been excommunicated like Tielhard had been? This is the garbage taught in Catholic colleges and universities. When Jesus returns will He find His truth at all? We live in sad times. A time such as Sodom and Gomorrah.

Looking forward very much to reading the book in connection with my dissertation. I wonder if Tim Morton has encountered Thich Nhat Hanh and the Zen part of the Mahayana tradition and his econological thought, which centers on interbeing as well as dependent origination in the Plum Village tradition of Buddhism. Thay (Nhat Hanh) was a reformer of aspects of Buddhism and sends people back to root traditions such as Christianity. He wrote the popular versions, such as Jesus and Buddha as Brothers, and also transations and commentary on sutras in the Mahayana tradition (the Diamond, Heart, and Lotus Sutras, and many other sutras. In Plum Village, check out Phap Linh or Brother Spitit and his dharma talks on KZbin re ecology, neuroscience, and Buddhist teaching.

With the deepening of knowledge in each field and expansion of disciplines even since Berry's time (my college offers degrees in Homeland Security, as if law or criminal justice and other fields aren't narrow enough to produce Homeland Security workers). In this narrowing of universities they are less universal. Less thinking and less wise in general.

I was an adjunct professor for 6.5 years. Everybody deserves a middle class salary and benefits for that work. Good of you to look at the positive. But academic freedom ought not be tied to poverty. Maybe i can go back to it when i retire. Good scholarship though. Thanks for your work.

Thank you, Sam, and of course Yale forum! Well, all of the conversations have been precious, this one on celebration speaks to the very heart of my life work at this time. We have a collection of 38 evolutionary rituals - celebrations - and daily practises - celebrations of this evolutionary moment based on the transformational moments of our common story. I had not heard Thomas speak to such an extent on celebration before, and it takes the word into the widest human context, cosmic matrix. Thank you so much.

Thanks for this informative, inspiring and encouraging discussion ! I agree that our Christian faith points in the direction of distributive justice. Unfortunately, leading Catholic figures in the U.S. seem blind in this regard, and actually oppose anything that looks like “socialism” , or “woke”. Shame on them. I am a Progressive Protestant and I love Pope Francis ! There is hope! Thanks for what you are both doing.
