I love this game. It was my introduction to the series too. It's so nostalgic.

I remember being disappointed that ACCF had the same soundtrack as Wild World, but looking back on it, I wouldn't change it. It's still the best hourly Animal Crossing music

I played a TON of Wild World as a kid, but I also played a LOT of City Folk. Back then I never even realized it was basically an upgraded port, I love City Folk.

the city folk hate makes no sense to me. it's basically the deluxe version of Wild World, which was already a great followup to the original games. i get that its not trying to suuuper change everything but does it NEED to??? i don't think so

I actually loved this game and after playing the original Animal Crossing game, found it had added a lot of better improvements. I had played the original version on a beloved Gamecube console. Like you, I wasn't a fan of the wii system. Switched to the PS2 system for the huge variety of odd little games, but held onto the wii for playing City Folk. Loved crossbreeding the flowers, collecting the decor sets and the fishing. Simple pleasures and great for stress relief.

I love this so much because I've seen so many videos saying "city folk is just a port of wild world" NO ITS SO MUCH MORE THAN THAT. I genuinely feel whoever says that never puts in the research. City folk was also the game that introduced me to the franchise, in my opinion wild world is the worst mainline game, all though it adds a few features to the game it took out features from population growing, then city folk added some back to the game but it's still sad some events or items were never added back to any animal crossing game.

I never thought that the motion controls were that intense in city folk. Sure you had to use it in order to pick items within your inventory and other things within the options, but beyond that everything was doable without any motion controls, even pulling up and switching through menus was possible without motion controls, so I kinda thought my controller was mostly laying on my lap, though then again anything done with motion control was a chore, especially if you have shaky hands like me. Really good video by the way. was loads of fun to watch and was cool to finally see someone talk about city folk, beyond it's just wild world with more features.

I hope the AC series gets a city folk except we actually ARE in the city. This could allow access to so many places, neighbors, etc. But then I feel like it'd ruin the rustic, outdoors feel of the games

When I was growing up I remember seeing one of my cousins playing on her DS I asked what she was playing it was animal crossing, I then believe I got a wii for Christmas that year and got the animal crossing for that system, I remember absolutely adoring this game. I didn’t have anything else to compare it to….I was probably 8? Life was simpler I remember being happy to play my first animal crossing

City Folk is certainly a very honorable entry to the series, even without online features. I personally also have nostalgia bias for it, as it was the second Animal Crossing game I played after Wild World, and was the newest one I played for several years, so it is very near and dear to my heart. That being said, I personally find it much more difficult to confidently give it the title of definitive best game in the classic era. After having played them all extensively, I have generally liked to consider Population Growing to be the best of the classic era due to its seemingly perfect balance between overall content and charm, in tandem with the ability to have several different towns on the same console and copy of the game just by using a new memory card, AND getting to visit said towns without online functionality. However, its utter lack of quality of life features, personal customization, and poorer graphics are large enough downsides to the game that I can most certainly understand it losing enough favor to be considered overall worse. Not even to mention it tragically doesn't have The Roost, one of my favorite little features in the franchise. As for how it stacks up to Wild World however, I tend to go back and forth on this a bit more. I do consider City Folk easily the best one to share a copy of the game with, due to the separate homes and collaborative features included, such as the co-op villager tasks that get unlocked, but when only thinking about a single player experience it's not so clear cut. Wild World is far more convenient on the DS, doesn't have grass deterioration, and has the best villagers in the franchise, waaaaay better than City Folk. Plus, while it may not have the biggest flashiest events, it still does have a consistent amount of events and they are a lot more unique, not to mention that events are only a small portion of a year's content. In addition to all this, Wild World does have villager AND special NPC pics to collect, as well as some really good special NPC dialogue and moments you may miss. City Folk may have overall more content and better graphics than Wild World, but I feel like it doesn't have as much charm or as consistent daily entertainment as Wild World. Ultimately it is all subjective tho and comes down to your personal situation and values. Personally I consider villagers and dynamic NPCs in general to be one of the absolute main pillars of the franchise, and arguably the most important feature of the game for consistent daily enjoyment, and Wild World nails that aspect completely. There are admittedly a ton of little things from City Folk that I absolutely wish was also in Wild World, which does add up to be a lot of missing content, but they aren't things I want so badly that I'd take them over the NPC quality and NPC pics that Wild World has, let alone the convenience of the DS and lack of grass deterioration. Either way, I think both Wild World and City Folk are valid options for best of the classic era.

Finally a real GOOD review of a game aaaah there are so many bad reviews out there and it's fantastic that you managed to be sincere about Let's Go to the City I actually started my first town in Let's Go to the City (trust me it's hard to be European and having to write the whole name) in 2023 and I loved the game. It has the athmosphere and the town feels like a town! Actually it's funny to be concious of having less customization options because you can create new ones with pre-existing objects!! It's creative!! I even have districts in my Wii town because City Folk towns are BIG and have TWO LEVELS! As a person who has New Leaf as his first AC game, having a bigger town on more levels just feels wonderful. Still, New Leaf will forever be the best AC game for me, but Let's Go to the City definitely occupies the second place alongside Wild World (it has charm because it's on the DS, and I would sincerely spend hours being insulted by the animals in WW :)) Well that's all, beautiful video I'm subscribing to your channel :))

Hahah same ❤ I also did started it in 2023 and also with the European version of it 😂 I did start it in November 2023 and I am still playing it today way superior to wild world almost everything. (Funfact I did play it one hour ago) 😂

One critisism I hear sometimes and I honestly don't understand is when people point out how there aren't any new villagers... Like there are SO many and you only ever have 10 live in your town, there's now way you would've had all of them live in your town. Technically when a villager moves in, they're always new to you... arent they?
@99xara993 ай бұрын
Ngl when I was 8, I though Wild World looked incredibly good. I started playing again now and I don't know how I could ever think that! 😂 But I literally just got City Folk for the first time and I kinda love it because of the fact that it's basically a Wild World remake with better graphics. This was probably the reason why I never really wanted to get it as a kid, but now that I'm back to playing the old titles it's perfect. In all honesty - the WW hourly music is one of the main reasons for me to revisit those games. Brings back all these memories.

I also got introduced to animal crossing with city folk around the same time as you did, and was surprised that wild world was the more popular version, since when I got a chance to play wild world later on I had a hard time finding things to do on it and never really kept a long term town. Also I will say that wild world sis better is dislodge and villager/npc interaction because city folk has the worst diolouge out of the series, as tou mentioned the villagers started to get "nicer" however they also repeat things way to much. After talking to them once, they'll just repeat the same thing until you leave the area and it's really annoying because I've had this affect the move out process before where villagers would just never mention their still leaving and it's lead to accidental move outs.

City Folk and New Leaf are tied for being my favorite Animal Crossing game, although those two were also the first ones I've ever played. Every time I play Wild World, I end up getting an itch to play more City Folk since it just feels like Wild World, but better (I also have the virtual console version of Wild World so while it does give the ability to have Nookington without being visited ever, it also takes away the portability aspect, so might also factor into why I prefer City Folk)

For cityfolk you can do pretty much every action (except for the menu and your pockets) without pointing and clicking! If you make sure the remote does not point towards the screen/is "out of bounds", you can click "a" then it interacts with whatever is exactly in front of you. So talking, catching bugs/fish/fossils, opening doors, all of that :)

May 2024 amd I just got a new copy and started a new town. 1 day in and can't wait to pick it up today! It's one I barely played when out. 2008 was kinda busy with twins born that year. When I did get it NL was out and that was much easier at the time. Playing both right now and NL was put to the side yesterday, gotta try to play both today lol CF hit different yesterday. Can't remember the last time I made a villager mad. Didnt mean to, especially less than 2 hours in the game. Mott stormed off emoting how unhappy he was.
