It’s been a fucken nightmare trying to figure out if bridging the rear is mandatory. Can I just weld the donuts on the top ( the body of car) idk 🤷🏻‍♂️ it’s my first build. Seems like I can get away with it on a lay n play setup.

I have a 97 Lincoln Towncar: 3 pumps, 6 batteries, 14" rear cylinders, adjustable rear control arms @stock length, bridged, no chains. It will stand 3wheel, but I keep bending the rear cylinders on the side that 3 wheels; I've bent the cylinder on both sides. Its not over locking, but it does look like the rear ened is walking forward enough to pu the cylinder in a position to bend when that side goes up to three wheel. Have you had or seen this problem? Please give me some advice. It sucks to get stuck with the cylinder locked up that high in traffic because I cant drive that high- the drive shatf binds at the U joint. Please help!

Did you just cut the roof ? Or what did you reinforce for cutting . I feel you I don’t have no 30k for a convertible project impala But I do have a clean 64 impala I’ve done convertible chop top c1500 So I don’t care about no rain , and I don’t care what people say , my money my car I don’t plan on hopping the car if that maybe bags but I feel like just lowering it any info will help me a lot thanks 🔥🔥

@@jesuschristgarage7064 there has been a lot done to this car before cutting. As far as the body goes the inner rockers have 2x3 1/4” wall tubing running from the front a pillar to the rear wheel wells on both sides. Inside quarter panels were also braces. The frame is fully reinforced front to back with 3/16 steel and 4 extra body mounts (that’s found on factory convertibles) was added.

I have 1997 Lincoln 2 pumps 6 batteries 8’s front 12’s rear no bridge or extra weight and I can sit a 3 wheel how 🤷🏽‍♂️ even the homie who built my car doesn’t know why

Did your Lincoln ever shut off when you locked up the rear? If so, what was you resolution?

@@BigScrappy405 I’ve never had that happen but Lincoln’s have a fuel cut off switch in the trunk that shuts the fuel down if they get rear ended. They are an inertia switch so they are based off g force. I could see the sudden jolt maybe tripping the switch.

@@RJTickler so I've already got the extended slip yolk... bypassed the Fuel Shut off Switch, still shuts off locked up, hopefully the slip yolk works, if not idk lol

@@BigScrappy405 slip yoke wouldn’t effect the engine shutting off. Sounds like you have a fuel delivery issue when your car is at an extreme angle. Fuel pump pick up could be damaged inside the tank. I would change the whole sending unit if your still having an issue. Not to bad if a job on Lincoln’s. You don’t have to drop the fuel tank.

@@RJTicklerbro, I've replaced Sending Unit, Fuel Pump, Relay, and Fuel Shut off Switch, still stalls and shuts off, now shuts off when it moves too much 🤯

Fully wrapped frame with convertible mounts added. They are in the middle of the floor pan. They come factory on the convertible frames that way. Plus the rocker panels have been reinforced with steel rectangle tubing the full length. I set it inside the rocker while I was re doing the floors so you can’t see it.

@@RJTickler appreciate it man! Tbh I I don’t think wrapping mines is an option for a while… the itch to cut the roof off is driving me crazy! I have a 4 dr daily right now and have gather what I think is all parts to do a 2dr conv. Minus the roof. You think mounts and beefing up the rockers would be ok for a weekend cruiser?

Well it's similar to the limit straps we used in our four-wheel drives, so it did not overextend the shocks, similar situation here so it does not overload or overextend the hydraulics it's a very useful and very smart safety item
