There was a time when each General Motors brand (Buick, Cadillac Chevrolet, Oldsmobile, Pontiac) had the freedom to design and build their own 350 V-8 engine. Which GM brand had the best 350 V-8?

The crime you speak of is for the idiots that intentionally "roll coal" with their diesels JUST to annoy people. A properly built and tuned street diesel will NOT smoke like that.

Dave, do you still mess with any of the old 350 diesel blocks for high output custom engine builds for customers. Those old Olds 350 diesel engines gotta be hard to find anymore since after the cash for clunkers days ate alot of those cars up.

This is not a 63 more like a 65
@wdavidsmith2 жыл бұрын
The customer said it's a 63...that's what I based the description on. I'm no expert on all the different models and trim packages on early buicks. It wasn't a restoration job, the customer just wanted it to be a good driver he could take the family out in. But now that you mention it, it does appear to be the 64-67 body style. Thanks for the correction.

A solid roller cam, with a vacuum secondary carburetor, and a dual plane intake?? Umm, OK.
@wdavidsmith2 жыл бұрын
1. It was a show car/street hot rod build, not a race car. Its built for exactly what the customer wanted. 2. Its a hydraulic roller, not a solid cam. 3. Its a 770 holley street avenger vacuum secondary. As I said, its a show and street car, it has A/C, it needs to have good cold starting quality, that's the reason for using that particular carburetor. 4. The heads and intake are matched, both are Edelbrock performer RPM. A high rise single and intake was not appropriate for this build. 5.. Please realize that every engine build is different. Its built specifically for what the customer wants it for. If it was all about getting the maximum horsepower while being willing to sacrifice street driveability and such, then I would have made some difference choices. This is exactly what the customer wanted. If you feel you can do it better, feel free to build a shop, buy all the engine machining equipment, and start your own engine building business. I won't bother me one bit. I have more work than I can do. I've been doing this for 30 years, I never knew I was doing it all wrong until someone in the KZbin comments section told me. So thanks for that. Ill reevaluate everything moving forward.

Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Now they want to slow down all the gas station fuel pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime "Abgasbespassung".:-((
