I actually watched this whole review yesterday evening, and it is a solid review. I was surprised how this video had no comments, so I decided to write one. My only feedback would be the music (bg music) could have been a little lower, and when you were showing the screen of steam deck for some features of it, the whole screen wasn't visible. Again, other than these, it is a great review. Will be watching your one year after video next.

blue screen of death? what era do you live in? With all due respect but Linux desktop in general is a huge faillure. Windows is lightyears ahead when it comes to everything a general computer user wants to do. I respect you to use linux in your professional era but dont recocomend linux for everyone lmao. Its just silly man The overall tendense is that more and more linux desktop users are switching back to windows because the whole Linux desktop environment is too fragmented and shows no signs of modernity, the only possible thing to save linux is Valve. Even Linus Torvalds agrees that Linux Desktop is in a very depressed state atm. Calling yourself a Linux person after spending just a few days on linux is cringe, you just hopped to Pop os and you call yourself a linux person xD Dude you are making a mockery out of yourself. What are your tech credentials? You followed a basic course on cyber security? Dude you need to touch some grass
@MarzMindset2 ай бұрын
*takes a deep breath and responds directly to the commenter* Alright, @SelfishFurniture91, let me address a few of the points you made here. First off, the "blue screen of death" jab - real mature, dude. Just because someone prefers a different OS than you doesn't make them some kind of technological Luddite. We all have our preferences and reasons for choosing the platforms we use. And this whole idea that "Linux desktop in general is a huge failure" - that's a pretty sweeping generalization, don't you think? Sure, the Linux ecosystem has its share of fragmentation and challenges, but there are also lots of great distros, desktop environments, and tools that provide fantastic experiences for many users. To write it all off as a failure is shortsighted. You say Windows is "lightyears ahead" - maybe in some areas, but Linux has its own strengths too. The customization, security, and performance benefits are real, even if the learning curve is steeper. And the Linux community is constantly working to improve the desktop experience. As for your dig at me "calling myself a Linux person" - dude, I've been using Linux daily for over a year, not just messing around with it for a few days. I know what I'm talking about here. Don't try to discredit my experience just because it doesn't align with your views. And the jabs about my tech credentials and "touching grass" - that's just childish. Instead of making petty personal attacks, why don't you actually engage with the substance of what I'm saying? Or are you just too insecure in your own position to have an honest discussion? Look, I get that you have strong opinions about this stuff. But there's no need to be so hostile and dismissive towards those of us who see value in the Linux desktop. We're all just trying to find the tools and workflows that work best for us. There's room for multiple perspectives here. So how about we move this conversation in a more constructive direction? I'm happy to discuss the real technical merits and drawbacks of Linux if you're willing to have an open-minded discussion. But the personal attacks and blanket judgments aren't doing anyone any favors.
@@MarzMindset i was sincerely interested in making linux desktop work for me 5 years ago. I have tried all distros the recent 5 years, it just doesnt work. Linux desktop just doesnt work its that plain simple. There only very few usecases where you can recoomend linux desktop to certain people. I was tired of Windows and all the windows bs, so this comming from says a lot. I went back to windows after 5 years (recently, and when you go back to windows you just get stuff done, no need to endless fix your os or fix compatibility problems) of trying out everything making stuff work. You will come to the realisation that the OS has to work for YOU and not otherwise. In my 5 years of experience with Linux all i had to do was put in the effort to make Linux work for me instead of Linux doing the work for me. Its just a horrible experience and sadly the future will only get worse if nothing changes in the fragmented world of Linux Desktop. I really can't understand content creators trying to make people use Linux desktop, you will only dissapoint the people and make them hate linux. Because in reality that is what happens when all the newness fades away. When all the newness fades away the only thing people see are potential obstacles, time waste and endless problem fixing. People might like it as a hobby, like people buy old cars and renovate them over the years because thats the only way to use Linux. (as a hobby project in itself). Nobody really daily drives their old hobby car project because its horrible. this is sadly the reality of daily driving LInux desktop. Macos and Windows are lightyears ahead in everything, sure some linux distros might innovate over time, but all it is are babysteps, babysteps babysteps nothing to be taking serious. I WANT LINUX DESKTOP TO WORK, BUT ATM IT JUST DOENST WORK 10 TO 15 YEARS AGO LINUX DESKTOP WAS WAY MORE VIABLE COMPARED TO NOW BECAUSE LINUX DESKTOP CANT KEEP UP WITH INNOVATIVE MACOS AND WINDOWS. they just cant keep up because all the distros are just doing their own things blaming other distros (very toxic environment) while all being mediocre time intensive hobby distros.thats the sad reality. you wont see windows users talk about distros because they are actually using the OS, no endless bugfixing or distrohopping for windows users.
@MarzMindset2 ай бұрын
@SelfishFurniture91 I understand your perspective, but I respectfully disagree with some of your characterizations. While the Linux desktop ecosystem certainly has its challenges, I don't believe it's accurate to write it off as a "huge failure" or unusable for general computer users. There has been significant progress made in improving usability and polish across many Linux distributions in recent years. That said, I acknowledge the validity of your experiences. Switching operating systems can be a frustrating process, and the fragmentation in the Linux world can make it difficult to find a distribution that meets all of one's needs out of the box. The constant need to "fix" things or ensure compatibility is a valid criticism. However, I would argue that the flexibility and customizability of Linux are also strengths that draw many users, even if they come with a steeper learning curve. And the Linux community continues to work towards improving the overall desktop experience. Ultimately, I believe there's room for multiple operating systems to coexist and serve different user needs. Windows has its advantages, as does Linux. Rather than engaging in a divisive debate, I think it would be more constructive to have an open-minded discussion about the specific pros and cons of each platform, and how they can continue to evolve to better meet the needs of diverse computer users. I'm happy to continue this conversation in a more collaborative spirit, if you're open to it. There's value in understanding each other's perspectives, even if we don't fully agree.

@@MarzMindset I could have been a bit more nuanced and there was no need for the personal accusations but the whole Linux desktop makes me go bald, I really like Linux so it’s sad that I feel that I need to use Microsoft atm.

I started using Linux a couple of years ago and I'm never going back. Gaming is something that has kept people away from Linux in the past, but it has gotten really good. If a game or a piece of software doesn't work on Linux, I simply don't support that company. I have found Windows and Mac alternatives for almost everything that I need. Also, AI has become a learning tool. If I run into any problems, with the help of chatGPT, I end up fixing it in the terminal. I even have it explain terminal commands that I don't understand.
