I'm thankful for God's steadfastness during every part of life. I tried to date a drinker who turned out to be addicted to alcohol and a totally different person than I thought she was. It led to lies, betrayal, abuse, and deception. It's ultimately led to homelessness for her. I pray for her daily, but there was no way a relationship could continue. The holidays are difficult for me and can be lonely. But it's also a great opportunity for me to reflect on my relationship with Jesus instead of doing gifts, going to parties, or having family time. He's always steadfast and loves me.

24:51 it really is such a nationwide issue 😖 people are being taught that it's everyone else responsibly to cater to me and that mentality has made it's why into the church. I once met someone who left a church because "no one ever called me" and when I asked, "did you call anyone?" they went blank 🤦🏼‍♀️

I apologize if any of my comments have ever been too much. I tend to share easily from the heart in an effort to share my experiences and testimony, hoping that God could use it somehow to help someone in need. It comes from love and encouragement. I've been encouraged by the message that In the Vine brings through scripture. God is using this ministry to provide a prospective on Christ-centered relationships and how to grow in personal faith. I pray that those who hear it hear it for what it's intended to be and can be able to listen to what the Spirit is saying.

We absolutely love that you share your testimony and engage. It’s so incredibly encouraging to not only our team but I know it is for those reading it as well! Keep it up and thank you so much for the support our brother in Christ! Praying with you in Jesus’ name that we can utilize these platforms to bring honor to God and encouragement to the body! 🤝

Thank you for sharing this, Shekinah, and from your heart from personal experience. I've struggled with addiction for as long as I can remember. I've had good seasons and not so good because temptation is always a tool that the enemy uses to destroy that success. It's so hard to put aside things that bring us comfort in the moment, but then shame in the long run. My addiction stems from a sexually abusive relationship and ultimately becoming a rape survivor. The shame and guilt I've felt for never feeling like I could recover from that trauma has been really tough over the years. I kept it a secret for almost 20 years. When I did ask for help, I was shunned and cast out instead of supported and encouraged. So I've fought it alone mostly. But, the strength I've gained in my faith by enduring these trials has helped me to overcome the temptation better and better each time. I don't feel the shame like I used to because I know that it is just another tool of the enemy to continue the cycle. That's why it's addiction. It took me years to even recognize it as that. I am a child of God! I am loved! I am created pure and forgiven pure! And the past is forgotten. 🙏

Sounds more like a testimony about your ex husband's struggle with drugs. Maybe you feel guilty for not standing by him when he needed you the most. Just saying.

I don't think you were listening. She was comparing herself to him for listening to God and choosing a different path. It's not always that simple as an addict and you make terrible choices that hurt the people you love. Just saying. 😢🙏

@WhatintheWorldwithRuss I think I've got a pretty good idea on how addiction works having been one for about 40 years. I also know about people bailing out on others when they really need help the most. If the roles were reversed, and she was the addict, he would have stayed and did whatever it took to be there for her and to help her thru her recovery. Just saying

@Christofuzz-hc9xl I'm sorry that you have struggled with addiction for so long. And I'm sorry that you were abandoned when you needed someone the most. I've been there too. It really hurts! And I respect your opinion on Shekinah's relationship. I'm sure she wishes things had turned out very different. I know I wish my marriage had. It's a complicated battle of guilt and shame. But sometimes, you have to walk away from people who constantly hurt you for your own sake. If they aren't willing to try and change. I learned that first hand. It's painful for the rest of your life. I have so many regrets from mine. But I can't change it now, and I've learned from that pain the same way Shekinah has. So she's trying to share her story to try and help others in similar situations.

Many blessings to you! By reading the comments I see that you have been struggling with addiction for a very long time and have felt abandoned through the process. I am so sorry to hear that that has been your experience. We are praying for you 🙏🏽 Jesus loves you and wants you set free. God has a plan and a purpose for your life and He sees you and He hears you. We pray that you are able to hear and rejoice in others testimonies of freedom from bondage, thus developing a mindset of victory and encouragement for one another. Amen.

@InTheVine.connects thank you. I am working through a lifetime of addiction. Presently, I am sober, 3 years now, making it more possible to see the better side of life. In this time I have have come to accept Jesus and to try to live in a way that brings me closer to him, and not further, that's for sure. I'm so grateful that I didn't die in the midst of my life when I practiced in the occult,or knowingly steered away from christ. I believe that hell is real, and I know that I don't want any part of that. Never.

I would make one exception to extreme truth telling.... and it originates in the Bible. You can see instances in the Bible where God's people were actually instructed to lie, in order to prevent evil being done to them. If a rapist comes into your home and asks where your little girl is hiding, you don't need to tell him the truth, and in fact you can fabricate a lie to mislead him. There are so many examples of this in the Bible - the one that comes to mind is in 1 Samuel 16. But there are others. Otherwise, yes telling the truth will set you free :)

I've seen miracles! In my own life and in others. I just think that in our instant gratification culture, we've forgotten how to see them. I've talked to many that, even after receiving that miracle, they are waiting for the next problem to come along instead of rejoicing. I've been there. It comes from fear and strongholds that the enemy has set up around us. God may not be coming down in pillars of fire or parting seas right now, but he's definitely still working. We have to seek miracles to see them! Being obedient and having faith that the Lord will do it. He will! Because he loves us!

This is a great topic, Shekinah. Food is all throughout the Bible. It's a source of joy, sacrifice, teaching, fellowship, love, as well as sin. I've never really thought of that until now, just how much God has used food to shape us. No pun intended, as I'm definitely shaped by it, lol. I was raised with food being a source of fellowship and love within family and friends. It's one of my love languages as I love to create and make food for others. Unfortunately, it can also be a source of distraction and gluttony, as you said. It's a balance that isn't always easy for a lot of us. I'm working on making better choices with food and asking God to help!

How awesome is our God that he has established the universal love language of FOOD! But yes, the enemy does come to pervert the pleasures the Lord has provided us, so we must stand strong and know when too much is too much. We stand with you in prayer and look forward to the revelations the Lord will bring to you as you enter this new freedom in mind and body. We here at ITV share this same conviction, so know you are not alone in your pursuit of honoring God with our health and body.

I have to be honest that the word love creates a little fear and anxiety in me because of the worldview of it. It does seem that love is something that isn't as sacred as it used to be. I know that in my experience of telling someone that I love them, I'm always met with questions or fear, like they don't understand what it really means. Even in closer relationships, it's been met as almost an untrusted word because of hurt attached or misunderstanding of what it means when I've said it. I've always tried to love according to that Agape love. It's what drives my purpose in life to love others in a sacrificial way. But because the other person may not understand that love, it's often met with rejection. The world has definitely twisted its meaning. So it's painful and frustrating sometimes when "I love you," as words or actions, is just thrown away by the person receiving it. All because they no longer understand or trust it. This hit me hard, Shekinah. Thank you for sharing. 😢💔 It doesn't mean I won't stop trying to love. It just seems to be something that's harder and harder to do in the world we live in. 🙏
