What amount of water did you add into the cornstarch? I went and looked at the long video. I wasn't sure if there were two , 1/3 cups of water.
@IcingOnTopBeckysCakes7 күн бұрын
I add just enough water to the cornstarch to make it into something I can pour so usually 3 to 4 tablespoons.
@jamifitz7 күн бұрын
@@IcingOnTopBeckysCakes oh I see. I appreciate your response. And with all respect (& i truly mean that) for me and possibly others it can be helpful to see that somewhere even in the notes or when you add it in the video. I know when I try a recipe atleaast the first time I usually don't add anything, even a little water. Just my thoughts and hope you keep sharing things like this. I make macarons a lot too and often use this kind of thing in the centers of them. ♥

Oh I totally get what you’re saying. This is just the “short” more like the teaser to my full length video tutorial where I explain the steps and in the full length tutorial I talk about the water that I add to the cornstarch and the reason for it. All of my shorts are like I teaser to my full length videos. I try and remember to add that in the description of the shorts so my apologies if I missed adding that to the description. I’ll go back and edit it to make sure I add it. Thanks for watching! Here’s the full length version: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a4WUd2tviamSndUsi=YfLJi2fWxwy8Z6Vs

How do you go about cutting the bottom cake?

After I slice and serve the top cake, I remove the acrylic tier and then slice and serve the bottom cake.

Love the tutorial. You may want to put your icing bag into a glass, fold the bag over the edge of the glass, to fill your bag with icing. Makes it a lot easier.

I would have to experiment with it. The reason buttercream or ganache works is because you can slightly melt it before piping it down

@@IcingOnTopBeckysCakes that's what I thought as the only way to safely transport in a tub or box or something. I've seen cup cake holders that are transportable but one for his sized cone would be nice. Thanks for the video!

It’s so funny because I did the same thing I bought the thicker acetate sheets they were about $14 and I got quite a few but they’re a lot thicker than the one you have here and I used it because that frost form kit I purchased it and it came banged up. The box was kicked in the contents inside were just kind of battered up, but I went ahead and cleaned everything and I used it anyway and it was so tiny like the sheet that goes around on the outside of the cake it it was so short so I bought the thicker acetate sheets, but I think I made the buttercream wrong so it didn’t work but I wasn’t sure if it was the butter cream or the acetate sheet that was making it not form correctly and I was actually going to make a video on it if it came out right but it didn’t And I was going to test it again today but using like a butter ganache I tested it yesterday using a different butter cream and it appeared to work but I didn’t really have enough cake to test it on. Thanks for posting this because you just proved my point that you don’t really need that frost form although it does help to have that clear acrylic dish that comes with it and then the round part that you put in the middle because it has grooves in it so when you put the acetate sheet in it it fits in it perfectly to make it equal when you pour the frosting. I did purchase mine on Amazon for half the price And I was testing this out about a month ago by using the thick acetate sheets and cake boards and I even bought what’s called it’s an adjustable cake collar ring and it’s metal and you can use it to cut your cake to and it’s fully adjustable like you can make it really small circle or really wide and it’s very tall but not sure if you even need that. I think these thick acetate sheets are the way to go so I was actually going to test mine out to next week and do a video on it. I think what you have here is a great idea. It was the same idea I had but the thick acetate sheets I think makes a huge difference and I think those sheets are the ones that people used to make stencils out of. It works really well.

This is so helpful - Thank-you 🙏🏻 If you want to colour the isomalt, at what stage do you add colour? And can you use gel colours?
@IcingOnTopBeckysCakesАй бұрын
You’re welcome! After the isomalt is cooked, I usually put it in a silicone cup and add the coloring, mix it, and then pop it in the microwave for 30 seconds to bring it back to a boil. Let it rest a minute if you’re pouring so you don’t pour bubbles into your design. Air brush colors are best but I also use gel. It can be a bit more sticky if you use gel.
