Was it just a protective city wall common for the Medieval time period?
@caspariantravel2 ай бұрын
It was for protection, because the landscape has no natural obstacles against invadors and the city was built less then 100 years before that.

Superb videos about Berlin, I'm a big fan as you are especially of that communist heritage and minimalist-artistic mentality, fascinating aspect of Berlin, it can be reflected at 1st with that stalinian structure of the buildings and that big TV tower (that can be really useful as a guide to find Alexanderplatz) especially starting with Berghain (that also looks like Dracula's home in a way). I was in Berlin last September, I rapidly found out Warschauer Strasse was the main place to be for the big techno fan and nightowl that I am, with a friend we just explored a lot of it, at some point finishing at 8 am on a Saturday morning on Warschauer Strasse. Didn't lose any minute honestly, the 7 nights that I was in Berlin I was always walking out until at least 5 am. Just a pity I didn't get into Berghain this time, but Tresor I managed and it was fascinating, the way it plays with lights and smoke. We tried to find Lokschuppen (ex Suicide Circus) in that area, we didn't manage to but crazy thing is we saw it from the bridge (terrific view as well) but didn't mange to find it once in that area with the skate park and all the rest, and most people don't know well the main clubs, I guess that's what it means to be underground. Went to Oxi too, good. Kater Blau, RSO (for the sound system) and Ritter Butzke are on my next list. But Warschauer Strasse for sure is always amazing to be, especially that long walk in the darkness before reaching Berghain. Has something magical about it, walking among the normal flats before getting there. Anyway, we'll come back around March probably, would be fun to hang out I'll let you know. I'm an astrophysics person as well so I'm sure we have common points as you're into geography. I like odd weird towns like person with total freestyle attitude. People were just very laidback in terms of you can dress like you want, no one cares, I was dressed like in a summer vacation during september month and no one cared, hippie style. Most of the people I met were weirder than I am or same level, too much smoke, alcohol and dr*ugs. Cheers and thanks for reading, had a lot to say about that.

Duisburg, like most of the big cities in the Ruhr District, was heavily carpet-bombed by the British and Americans in WW II, destroying most of the old buildings. Afterwards, building new housing and getting the city as a whole was of greater importance than restoring, or reconstructing, old buildings. And you wonder why it's fairly generic and non-descript as a consequence? You'll find much the same in any of the surrounding cities -- Bochum, Essen, Dortmund, Gelsenkirchen ... and yes, Duisburg. Also, the whole area has been the hub of coal-mining, steel production and other heavy industries since the 19th century, very much a blue-collar, working class background. Köln has the cathedral and the history, Düsseldorf has the "posh" people -- fashion and finance. Of course Duisburg and the true "Kohlenpott" (coal pit) cities will fall short in the beauty department by comparison. What the heck else did you expect?!?

I would say still nice and tidy. Not everyone can afford fancy premium living. And given that thousands of people call that neighbourhood "home", and chose to live there, I think your negativity is arrogant and downgrading. Imagine a dude coming to your own home place to rant about how "ugly, boring, pointless and unimpressive" it is.

Nice video! Two comments: Lutherweg is not the name of the church, but the name of a hiking trail to get to know places meaningful to Martin Luther's life. The object in the market place is a fountain covered for winter. I would guess that the figurines spout water in summer.

Are all the girls there beautiful or not so good?
@caspariantravel Жыл бұрын
There are many beautiful people there. Not all the girls are models but many of them are very attractive. If I owned a nightclub I'll let the attractive people in, wouldn't you? 😀
@Rim... Жыл бұрын
@@caspariantravel I thought girls would be scarce, especially pretty girls. After all, it's much easier for beautiful girls to get sex than for guys, and you don't have to go to a club to get it. It's hard enough for me to imagine that they don't have enough sex, if I think back to myself, I always had to work hard to get sex, even though I have very average looks.
@caspariantravel Жыл бұрын
@Rim... In my experience attractive girls or guys experience more sex then the average person . So they are looking for new things to spice up their life ( being watched like in Kit Kat club or swinging). So is not about needing sex, it's about making it more exciting. And personally I've found the girls there very attractive and very uninhibited (good for them).
@Rim... Жыл бұрын
@@caspariantravel In fact, there's nothing surprising about it. The average person doesn't look very attractive either. Although they also want sex, and maybe even more. But because they are not wanted, they spend their libido on something else, such as becoming artists, playing computer games and so on. There's an injustice in this world. It's very sad.
@caspariantravel Жыл бұрын
@Rim... It's been like this since prehistory. It's normal. Anyway, when in Berlin try to enter this club, it's one of the emblematic clubs of the city.

A certain costume/outfit doesn't guarantee you getting in. I suggest going on Monday(electric Monday the party is called) and you have 90% chance of getting in because it's ordinary people's night ( no fetish clothes compulsory). I got in a couple of times on Monday night.

@@caspariantravel cool, I've heard from other guys that you don't always get sex. A lot of guys are just disappointed.

It's works like in normal life, if a girl likes you then you are allowed to have sex in the club, if not then the sex doesn't happen. Being inside the club doesn't guarantee sex! I hope this helps!
