Please describe what these exercises prepare us for;example Czerny 9 prepared the student to play Beethoven 3rd sonata passages. This may further motivate the student to play these.

my right hand is too flat on the keyboard in this study because of stretching fingers to reach notes, how do you get your hand a few centimers above the keyboards with a desirable curve like that. My thumb feels really unstable stroking keys at a slant angle if not flat on the keyboard. Any cues ?
