Our on demand / tank-less water heater system is messed up. This one has a recalculation pump. It seem we only get hot water when another hot water tap is open than it seems to heat water fine than after a minute the water flow completely shuts off. If I turn the hot water valve off for a minute or so it will turn on with good flow for about a minute than completely shuts off the water flow. Anyone every had this issue, and how did you fix it ? Thanks

Never again!!!!! Get one if you enjoy complicating your life! I’ll spend the whopping $25 extra in energy costs to run a NORMAL tank dead reliable hot water heater. I have wasted my time and money on several different makes and models and they all suck!!! I especially love it when the electricity goes out mid shower and the water immediately goes cold, my wife loved that one! If your going to torture yourself with one of these miserable units at least go for the standing pilot unit. I have both and at least those don’t leave you in the cold. Unfortunately I designed my hot water heater cabinet for these darn things so in order to go back to a reliable tank heater it’s a lot of work. Hopefully this reaches someone who’s on the fence about purchasing a tankless and it pushes them to go with a tank water heater.

Good tip in setting the temperature between 102F to 106F to save energy instead of 120F and using the cold water to bring down the water temperature.
@dudeman8323 Жыл бұрын
Not accurate. The flow rate reduces so if your usage temperature is the same you're using the same energy. The difference is only which pipe the energy is flowing in...

’m currently having built a log cabin on a trailer from Lancaster log cabins. Included in my cabin is a regular tank water heater, but I sprung extra $ for a tankless water heater. They install the water heater outside on the rear of the trailer. In speaking with a few friends, most have agreed concerns about the water heater freezing in the winter months when no hot water is sought. I know nothing about these systems, although I’ve attempted to find out info on them. I can still have them put a tank water heater in, I’m not sure which way to go. I’d like to use the cabin in the winter months, It is going to be in the poconos (Pennsylvania) I may try to winterize each weekend I’m done using. In your professional opinion would it be better for me to just stick with the tank water heater or get the tankless? Any info you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Oh the tankless water heater is made by rinnai on demand V53dep

New Rinna water heater in Dec, 17. The thing is a piece of junk! Running out of hot water in mid-shower. Wait up to 2 minutes to get hot water in parts of house. Lose hot water regularly and switches to cold with no change of setting. Terrible piece of equipment!

OK. We have been in this house May 2010-present 2015! ALL new appliances. We replaced one GAS instant hot water heater "Rinnaii" 2012. Then the other one in 2013. They sent us the parts we paid a plumber to install it 300.00. Now Oct 21 2015 it is leaking again. This house is only 5 years old and we have been through 3 Rinnai tankless water heaters. This is CRAP!! Do not buy one. a 5-15 year warranty? They don't even believe in their product!
@robertpeasley71889 жыл бұрын
My unit froze and split last winter, cold air came in through the exhaust. I live off grid so, only have electricity part time. Would that be the reason that it froze and split? Do these units need power 24/7?
@VinnyGjokaj8 жыл бұрын
+Robert Peasley Yes they do need power at all times, If there's no power you're supposed to open a faucet and let the water drain out, that goes with everything with plumbing though! Outdoor model water heaters have internal heaters that heat the system to freeze protect it, and indoor models don't, but the internal heaters does not protect that copper or plastic plumbing!
@petesessa20419 жыл бұрын
For a water heater that's "projected to last 15-20 years or more," a ten year warranty for the tank and 5 for the parts seems to be a little disingenuous. Your warranty tell us what you really think think about it's life expectancy. It's the same as reservoir system.
@penzoil118 жыл бұрын
Does it make much sense for a company to warranty a product (such as this) all the way up to the end of it's expected life? Wouldn't that mean that roughly half (assuming a normal distribution) of the units would fail before the warranty expired (in this case 15 years)? Doesn't seem realistic - they would get killed. Car companies typically warranty for 75 - 100,000 miles, but we expect the car to go much longer than that. No, I have nothing to do with Rinnai.
@petesessa20418 жыл бұрын
OK, lets try to forget this obvious attempt at sales-training-gone-wild and forget this guy is pitching on-demand water heaters that MIGHT last 15-20 years or more. Lets say the on-demand water heater costs $3,000 (non-condensing) -$4,000 (Condensing) and the average consumption of 20 gpd to 62 gpd is employed. The average savings of a gas-fired on-demand water heater is about 37%. (23% on the low side and 55% on the high side.) That puts the annual gas savings between 42 to 95 therms. The annual savings costs would be between $42.00 to $121.00 per year. When you factor in the very high cost of installation the amount of time it would take for these things to pay for themselves, you would think "a wake-up call" would be in order for those pitching these things, and those who are catching a lot of industry hype. The best case for "payback" is about 21 years. The worst case would take about 71 years for these water heaters to pay for themselves. There are a pile of of Energy Saving road baloney ploys that have been used quite successfully over the years which amount to the same kind of net losses to the consumer. Replacement windows might be the next biggest fraud. Stating with the well-worn sales pitch that they will make you house more valuable. NO! They make your house more expensive. The value of you house is determine by the person buying it...No more. No less. Using objective data, field testing and depending how much someone spent on swallowing the latest sales gobblygook, it would take years and years the same amount of time to recoup the cost of new windows. I think there is an article I read that goes over this. I think it was called "Why energy saving tips suck." There are a pile of them too.
