I think the reason you can hit yourself with the ball is that if you throw it while standing still and then move in the same direction with full boost then you are traveling faster then it and catch up and get hit by it, while if you are moving while throwing it the speed of the ball is added to your speed to make it the same speed relative to you

An example is Sniper, I feel that if I learn certain things about surround awareness and timing, would that help improve my gameplay as long as I don't rely on it? Or is learning the non-assist way better? Genuine question
