I just got an Rs-09 from japan and sadly one of the notes regardless of octave cuts in and out when held down. Any Idea what could be causing this? After watching this I assume it is the expensive hard to find divider chip dying out? All the other notes work besides E Sharp in any octave.

I'm surprised this channel hasn't done more videos. 🤷

I think this video helped me figure out whats wrong with my RS09. Just ordered the Upper octave chip - fingers crossed!

If you're judging the RM1x via its presets, then you haven't a clue about the power and possibilities of this sequencer. The presets are idea sounds to play with. Many don't understand what's possible and never venture beyond the presets. You can edit, add or alter every sound and sequence in this machine. Used with MIDI and outboard gear opens another massive door of potential. I have a studio packed with kit, yet the Yamaha RM1x is still used after 26yrs plus ownership 😎

Vince Clarke and Upstairs at Eric's changed my life in such a way that it has never been the same since I was 11. Having a mild form of autism (and not knowing this til decades later) the burbling arpeggios and basslines in tracks like Too Pieces , Bad Connection and Midnight switch a light on in my brain and have featured in my mind almost ever single day since. I have been a synth and electronic music nut since "New Life" came out but this was in my mind a masterpiece of its time and remains in my top 3 albums ever (two of which feature Vince). HELP! I too had a missing inductor that you mentioned at 3:10, any chance you can tell me the value of the one you replaced it with? I have just popped in a 10mH 10ohm inductor- its working fine but I am worried the reduced resistance may overload the power supply...
