I am not finished my 180 hour TEFL (Celta equivalent) diploma yet. Can I still apply to Magic Ears, get hired and finish it as I work? I am a native English speaking Canadian with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. Thanks.

Your first bit of music was suddenly very loud, I had my head phones on and audio up and it was so suddenly a lot louder. But otherwise really good thanks

Hi Tom, I'm just wondering if you need to have a TESL certificate to work for Magic Ears if you are a qualified teacher with a teaching degree. Great video!

Hi Nariema, The quality won't be as good but it doesn't matter for the recorded demo. However Magic Ears announced on Friday that they will no longer be taking any new referrals I'm sorry.

I thought Magic Ears were a Chinese Company also?? And do they have any adult students? 'As of August 5, 2021 Magic Ears will begin to wind down and will no longer be hiring new teachers.'

Hi there, Yes Magic Ears are also based in China, I filmed his before the Chinese Government announced specific details of the new regulations. However Magic Ears are still hiring! They will continue to have student booking till at least Feb 2022 and possibly longer. Are you interested in applying? If you want 6 months of work, it could still fit? I'm getting 24hrs a week on $21 an hour. I'd be happy to help you apply, if you want to?

Hi Roxette, I'm afraid it has to be a PC or Laptop. You can't do Magic Ears on a phone, sorry. Can you borrow one from a friend? Thanks for your message.

Yes true but the way the 2 companies have responded couldn't be more different! Magic Ears have been transparent, given clear communication and have not given us a pay cut! I'm glad I made the transition! Magic Ears says it will still have classes till February.

@@tomnewby4790 Hi no it's my Fiancee who works for palfish, but it's really stressed her out, she left I tutor group a year ago to start here and she's really been struggling these past few months since she stopped getting as many trials and now this has made things much worse, she even got employed at tutor abc with top marks on her tests and lots of interviews but has never got a lesson from them, bad times.

@@stevenjones5772 I'm sorry to hear that. Yes it can be very stressful. If you fiancee would like to try Magic Ears I would be happy to support her through the application process. It took me 7 days to get a contract. I've been with them a few weeks and I'm getting about 12hrs a week now.

Hey Reign, thank you for reaching out! That's a great question! My tips would be: make sure you prepare before class, have lots of patience and share lots of encouragement to your students. How long have you been an ESL teacher? How's it going?

Hi Susana, I'm sorry that's frustrating! I've looked on the website it says "We are currently holding applications from California residents due to AB5 restrictions." I don't know what AB5 is, do you?

It is the independent contractor law in California. It's coming in NJ too and other states may adopt it. I'm surprised you didn't know about this at living in CA. There have been lawsuits with Uber and Lyft etc

Hello from Yorktown, Virginia. I lived in England for three years back in the 1960s. I am 58 and just completed my TESOL certification from International Open Academy. I have a B.A. majoring in psychology and minoring in mathematics. I write articles which appear in a couple of local newspapers, and for the last five years I have also worked from home writing articles for an education company. Would Magic Ears hire someone my age without ESL experience? Thank you.

Why do you think Magic Ears won’t cut your pay as well? Other online schools have already done it recently and it seems to be a trend.

Hey Gary, you're right it's not guaranteed. However I know that Magic Ears already reduced its pay last year, so I don't think they will make another major change so close to the last. But I will still be paid more at Magic Ears than PalFish. But to be honest I think it's the reality of working in this field. I'm going to look at other options too, I think it's good to have a couple of companies at the same time.
