Even with a revolutionary much better battery the EV is doomed currently, because they are extremely pricey even with the current probably cheaper batteries. So a new, better probably much expensive battery pack just make worst this already worse situation. The greed can easily ruin any idea, any market.

you are comparing apple with peach. if you have an ICE car with full fuel tank how far you can go with it. if you have an ev how far can you go with it fully charged. it is the correct way to compare them you will see that there is no big difference and it is smaller year by year. EV needs 1/3 energy for the same distance. so the contest ends soon.

While many ev car owners will love this, it will have an even greater impact on airplanes. Electric motors spool up almost immediately which equates to shorter runways. However, using them requires low weight energy storage. As soon as more energy per pound can be stored in a battery than in jet fuel, everything will change.
@JRP3
@JRP3 13 сағат бұрын
This be h is no where near energy dense enough for airplanes. It would need to be around 500 wh/kg.

But with EVs the charging speed is mostly limited by the amount of power available. 25-30 minutes for a 20-80% charge on a 150kw charger becomes 18-20 minutes on a 250kw. With 350kw on the way and 500kw+ being talked about. So the battery is not really the issue, is it?
@leiflillandt1488
@leiflillandt1488 14 сағат бұрын
Exactly, you are right! But if you charge 90 % of your driven miles/kilometres at home, does it really matter if the battery on the few long journeys of the year charges half of the time you need for lunch! The high charging speeds only matter to some extent for truck drivers, who also have to rest for a certain amount of time every few hours. But even quite "low" speed charging stations are a challenge to build if the "charging station" is quite big. The power grid must deliver enough amperes anyhow. Maybe the solution will be many small charging stations instead of a few mega stations. Here we really talk about "time will tell".
@patdbean
@patdbean 10 сағат бұрын
@@leiflillandt1488 yes quite, from memory, the truck/hgv driver has to take 45 minutes stoped and out of the vehicle for every 4.5 hours of driving. So 2x 20 minute charges on a 500kw charger "could" be 2x 150kwh added. In those two 20 minute charge stops.

2:16 is a modern opposed piston swashplate axial engine of the exact type used in the Mark48 torpedo. Designed to burn Otto fuel II it produces an advertised 500 hp and propels the torpedo at an advertised speed of 65 knots (120 km per hr) ~75 mph... The torpedo is actually much faster, it uses pump-jet propulsion. Other than that few seconds of animation, which is completely unrelated to the narration, which is selling Toyotas and this is AI voiced clickbait. If you want to see how a torpedo is driven the link is above.
